Sealed the grow out pond, it had several small cracks, tried digging up some pampas grass, those roots go DEEP, and the ground is still hard, also looks like the mandarins are starting to molt.

Seen this tiny snapping turtle while mowing this morning, I had a suspicion this is how they were getting into the pond, the tiny ones can probably dig under the fence without making a very big hole that I wouldn’t notice and then it would fill back in while they were digging. Gonna have to lay some mesh wire down around the perimeter.

Now that the rain is over for awhile, it was time to freshen up the pond.
We have been doing this for years and have had no issues whatsoever, it’s safe for everyone. By this evening the water will be completely blue and cleaner with the bacteria 🦠 eating up the waste.
Our pond is all natural, clay bottom and no liner.

If they ain’t setting they hiding. 🫣 🤷😂Kinda like “Pokémon” gotta find them all. Crazy ducks. 🦆

Little long but bear with me.
Our health is just not as good as it used to be and most days it’s all we can do to take care of everyone.
The exotic birds all stay in the aviary and basically don’t need much, but we make sure they have a great feed, clean water and a safe environment. So we do plan to be adding a few more species this fall.
The Call ducks take up more time with feeding & watering each pen every day, plus trimming nails, so all we will be keeping in call ducks are the whites and they will all be in the aviary with the exotic waterfowl.
Dad still has Snowy and Pied call also and should have some snowy available later.
We have several call duck eggs setting and hopefully we will have several ducklings available soon.
Right now I have one pair of Magpie calls available for pick up only $125 She was laying but has stopped right now.
Also I have so many orders for mandarins and people still asking to be added to the list that I know I won’t be able to fill, we do have some and dad has some too but they got a late start this season and I’ve only had 2 hens double clutch so far. We do have some Indian spot billed ducklings now and should have more.

I need some information from people who hatch Sebastopol geese.
I’ve struggled all spring to try hatch these eggs, I let mom set for a week on some eggs before I tried incubator, I’ve used incubator from the start on several with humidity at 50/60% and temperature at 99.5° I’ve had them in same incubator as call duck eggs and everyone of the Sebastopol eggs will do good for 2 weeks and then they stop. I hand turn eggs twice a day.
Apparently I’m not doing something right so what is the trick to incubating Sebastopol eggs? 🥚
