Globally only 9% of plastic is recycled. The remaining 91% is either incinerated, dumped in landfills, or dumped into waterways.
Couple that with the fact that plastics can only be recycled once, and you’re left with billions of tons of junk accumulating in the environment and sitting there for centuries.
The vast majority of plastic waste comes from packaging, which is why we choose to use COMPOSTABLE packaging with a water proof lining that’s derived from corn.
Even this is not a perfect answer, because compostable packaging must be processed in a commercial facility in order to break down within months. But science has yet to identify a perfect answer, so we believe that compostable is the most environmentally responsible option available at this time.
