Neighbors, today I saw my neighbor’s son nearly get hit by a driver in a black car with the top down. The driver also yelled at the children riding their bikes to “Get the F*** off the road.”

That is unacceptable. Children should be able to ride their bikes through their own neighborhood without being endangered or cursed at by adults.

Please keep your speed at 20 mph or less on our street, and slow down further around children and cyclists. Leave room, be patient, and be ready to stop. A few seconds of your time are never worth someone’s life.

Yes, we teach our children to be careful around traffic. But that does not excuse reckless driving, and we should not normalize a neighborhood where parents are afraid to let their children ride their bikes. Adults behind the wheel have a responsibility to help keep them safe.

I plan to install dashcams. If I witness reckless driving that puts a child in danger, I will document what I safely can, including the license plate, and report it to police.

This applies to every cyclist, whatever their age. Share the road and treat people with care.

Please drive like a neighbor. Drive like your own child is riding a bike ten feet ahead. Don't take for life for granted. You don't have total control of your surroundings. Be humble enough to drive that way. If you drive stuck in your own world it may be that thinking costs the life of a child and that you will have to bear the weight of responsibility for being a part of hurting a child and taking that child from their mother for the rest of your life.

Ok all there is still time to sign up for the garage sale! I am willing to extend that through Thursday please use the link below: https://forms.fillout.com/t/8hrLLEw8Wyus
and I will try to get you on the map!

Also, tomorrow is the last day to apply for money for a neighborhood/district party at your house! Please take the time to apply and if you have any concerns about the form it doesn't have to be perfect...the point is to just let the association know your idea. It's $100 for you to have a party with your neighbors. Don't miss out! Better neighborhoods start with better neighbors and here is your chance to get help uniting those in your area to have a stronger voice in your community! https://forms.fillout.com/t/7MkUr9u6WFus
If you feel intimidated by the form and want some help discussing it just email me at info@strawberry farms.org or text at (833) 287-9553. Again I would be happy to help and the form doesn't have to be perfect. We just want to see more districts mobilized for a stronger community voice!

Made with Fillout, the best way to make forms, surveys and quizzes your audience will answer.

Okay, peeps—I want to start an important conversation about road rage.

How many of you have experienced a serious incident in which a stranger tried to harm or intimidate you with their vehicle?

When I was in my early twenties and living in my hometown of Toledo, I was stopped at a traffic light, waiting for a safe opportunity to make a right turn on red. Suddenly, a driver hit my car from behind. At first, I thought he might have assumed I was going to turn and failed to stop—but then he hit me again. And again.

He repeatedly pushed my car toward oncoming traffic traveling approximately 50 mph. I managed to hold my ground just long enough to avoid being T-boned. As the oncoming cars passed, my vehicle was finally pushed out into the roadway. I regained control and turned onto a side street because I was shaking and too distracted to continue driving safely.

Unfortunately, the driver followed me.

I called the police and then called my boyfriend at the time, begging him to come park beside me so I wouldn’t be alone. I was terrified that the aggression would end with someone being injured. The driver tried to get into my vehicle, but I had locked the doors and rolled up the windows.

I stayed because I wanted the police to hold him accountable and prevent him from endangering someone else. Although he ultimately paid for the damage to my car, he was never charged for deliberately putting my life in danger.

In the past two months, I have experienced similar aggression on the road. Thankfully, I was able to get away safely without being harmed or having to confront either driver.

So, I want to say this plainly: If you struggle with anger, please address it before getting behind the wheel of two tons of steel. A moment of rage can take someone’s life—and the harm will spread through an entire family, circle of friends, and community.

Drive safely. Drive as though the person in the car beside you is someone whose life matters—because it is.

I am seriously considering purchasing a dash camera so that future incidents can be documented and reported to law enforcement. If capturing this behavior helps hold even one dangerous driver accountable, it may help save a life.

Have you ever experienced a frightening incident involving road rage? What did you do to stay safe?

We analyzed the data to find out which states have the most aggressive or reckless drivers — and where those behaviors are the most deadly.
