Buyer beware. Can you trust the honey labelled as 'organic' at the grocery store? You may be surprised to learn that honey imported from other countries doesn't have to meet the same standards as U.S. produced honey. Some brave U.S. honey producers are calling attention to this legal loophole by filing suit against the USDA. The double standard includes 'organic' honey being sold at Costco, Whole Foods, Kroger, Walmart etc. American shoppers are offered imported seemingly 'organic' honey while U.S. honey producers are sitting on more than 60 million pounds of unsold honey. "U.S. farmers won’t survive if they have to compete against fraud."
