⭐️⭐️⭐️Announcement⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wiggle’n V Ranch is SUPER excited to announce that as of today, we have a PT tested, clean flock of birds!!

This is exciting news for us, why?? BECAUSE!! It means we can legally, and ethically sell our birds, chicks, and fertile eggs, knowing that we are providing healthy birds as new additions for others to enjoy!!

Now, we don’t have a very big flock by any means, and at this time, we are focusing on our bantam Cochins….we will begin offering more and more older birds, chicks and fertile eggs in the near future. Eventually, we will also be offering geese and turkey as well!!

Super HUGE shout out, and THANK YOU to Mr. Howard Davenport for coming out this morning and testing our birds, and great conversation!! I highly recommend those interested in getting PT tested to contact Howard!!

So what exactly is PT testing for?
This comes directly from Texas A&M TVMDL website-
“The mission of the Pullorum-Typhoid (PT) Program is to bring about the control and eradication of pullorum disease and fowl typhoid from poultry flocks in Texas and to maintain Texas as a U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid Clean State. The program, enacted by the 65th Texas Legislature, requires that all domestic poultry (chicken, guinea, pheasant, quail, peafowl and turkey) offered for sale, trade, or used to produce offspring for sale or trade must be tested for pullorum and typhoid and found to be free of infection. In addition, the program requires all poultry going to public exhibition or public sale to be found free of infection or originate from a certified clean flock.”

*our official certificate will arrive in a few days*

Thanks Guys🥰🥰🥰

New incubator and a dozen of CALL DUCK eggs!!

Working on stabilizing the heat and humidity, and then we will set the eggs….and fingers crossed we will have chicks and ducklings arriving soon!!

We will be setting 12 Call Duck eggs, 11 calico bantam Cochins, and 18 mix breed eggs…..all for incubating experience/experiment purposes at this time.

If all goes well, much of our hatch will be available.

⭐️⭐️Note: Call Ducks are a bantam breed of ducks, primarily for ornamental and pet purposes. They are the cutest LITTLE things!!! Approximately 1/2-3/4 the size of the standard duck breeds!⭐️⭐️

Dachshunds!!

I have had many messages and phone calls more recently, asking if we still raise dachshunds….short answer!

YES!!! Absolutely we still do!!!

However, we are not “over producers”….meaning, I do not have so many females, and to produce litters consistently year round. Currently, I only have 1 producing female….we do also have Bonnie, however she is nowhere near old enough to safely produce and raise a litter(time frame: late late this year/early next year).

We do hope to eventually add another female, but only when 1. The time is right for us. And 2. Ounces the perfect one is found!

Until then, our downtime allows for females to be dogs, instead of being mommas! It gives her a break and allows her body to recover.

I’m hoping soon we will have another litter in the works….until then, we enjoy the break! Babies are TONS of work, and definitely not for the faint at heart 😉

Pictured below is Whimsy, Louie, and Bonnie. I don’t have an updated picture of Slash at the moment 😏

Photo dump!!!

A LOT has been going on at Wiggle’n V over the past few weeks!! We had 2 little doelings born to Trendy and Ninja…making them F1 Mini Nubians!! These are Maddie’s babies! She named them Grace and Poppy!!! We also moved our Jr. Cochins to their new coop…to make room for the babies mom hatched for us!! Did some cleaning up…added a billy and a doe, Jackson and Sunny…and still working on taming the Zebu heifers! They are getting better…I think lol. I love productive days!! I also love this time of year!! Spring! Flowers! Babies! Garden!!!! It’s all so great! We are Blessed ❤️

Wiggle’n V Ranch fans….I received this message today. I have confirmed my page, however I suppose the decision is left out of my hands. I’m sad, and worried honestly, as HUNDREDS and possibly thousands of our pictures are on this page from the past nearly 11 years of raising dogs and farm life, along with MANY memories involving our children, are at risk of being lost.

In the unfortunate case that our page is in fact deleted, please know you can add my personal page Cynthia Vasek to continue to follow us there.

Thanks for all your support through the years, and God Bless ❤️

Wiggle’n V Ranch will no longer be selling refrigerated eggs…..going forward, we will be giving them away to those needing/wanting them!!

Our chickens are definitely earning their keep, keeping our family supplied, and working over time…..so we want to share!!

1. Since we are giving them away, they must be picked up at our house.
2. 1 dozen per family per week….just so others have a chance to have some eggs if they need them!

Fresh yard eggs of various shell coloration.
Please message us so we can arrange pick up!

A livestock guardian dogs job is to protect, defend, and keep a constant watch for danger….our job is to love them for it….

And that, we did!!! Susie was our first livestock guardian dog….she was AMAZING at her job, to say the least. I’m certain there is not a person one, that I have spoke to about her, and didn’t tell them just how amazing she was at her job! Susie came to us from a great friend of ours, who no longer had their goats….she was experienced, knew her job, and knew it well. A livestock guardian dog, is one of the most valuable aspects of a farm. They are your eyes and ears when you just can’t be around. Their wise decisions, is what keeps a herd safe from predators, and stagers alike.
Susie helped the does clean their newborn kids, and watch them like a hawk making sure nothing could hurt them. She let the goat kids curl up with her to keep warm and comfortable, and at times, use her like a trampoline or a play ground of sorts! It was obvious that she loved and cared for the goats, “her people” as we jokingly called them…beyond measures. It was one thing to watch the dynamics of our herd around each other, but it was something special to watch her interactions with our herd. She was a never failed master of letting us know when one of the elderly goats would soon be passing on…often, when those times had come, we would see her standing over the goat, comforting it, as if to let it know that everything would be ok.
Susie taught us so much about raising and caring for livestock guardian dogs….the dos and don’ts of it all. One thing you did NOT do, was take her away from her goats…..she would have the biggest fit EVER! She’s also been known on many occasions, to chase after trucks and trailers as they leave the property with “her goats”, that have sold.
Susie unfortunately left us, shortly before Christmas to a pack of coyotes. A loss that was truly felt here at the farm…and our surrounding predator load started to pick up almost immediately….something we haven’t had much of since Susie first moved in with us. Over the past year, Susie was a vital part in training her last partner, Gus (4-way cross), on boundaries, acceptable behavior, and guardian duties. Since Susie’s passing, we have definitely noticed the changes in command around the farm, and Gus has definitely stepped up to the plate, and resumed duties.
Livestock guardian dogs, are a different kind of breed….a breed that does well in partnership. Singleton’s can struggle with the diversity of duties….to understand this, Is to understand the Livestock Guardian Dog. Knowing we will again be kidding in late 2022, I had to ensure protection over our herd. We made the unregrettable decision to add Annie(2-way cross) to our farm. Annie is still a pup….but in her short time here, she is doing absolutely AMAZING! She is definitely not Susie….but I feel with her qualities, she will make Susie proud one day!

Yup…Bonnie got a lil bit of bull frog in her 🤣😂🤦🏼‍♀️

01/22/2022

I love this!! Yes, it’s sad….but it explains the unnatural nature of farming so well. Many…MANY times I have questioned myself, and what we do….because ultimately the end is the hardest….rather they go on their own, or try to continue to hang on for another day…it is never easy…..but it’s the journey in between that counts!!

I had to euthanize one of our senior sheep the other day, which, since I don’t have access to the nice veterinary drugs, I had to use a .22. Mariah was fourteen years old, and it was a little past time for her to go.

Farming is an extremely unnatural activity. Anyone telling you that they love farming because it brings them back to nature is a bit deluded. Our goats are GMO’s; the modifications have been incremental, but persistent, and continuous over the course of some five thousand years. You won’t find a mammal in nature that produces 4% of its weight in milk every day for ten months after parturition, and if you think a sheep’s wool production is natural, go look for pictures of the occasional sheep that escapes an Australian station and is recaptured after years in the bush.

From start to finish, the farm animal’s life is unnatural. Never mind AI; we fuss over kidding, so both maternal and neonate mortality is much lower than is “natural.” We guard them from predation by those who would destroy them, both microscopic and macroscopic. Pastures may be bare, but they are fed; when extra nutrients are needed, they are provided. The end is also not what nature usually provides.

Mariah was old, but not extremely old, for a sheep. Her joints, a common point of failure, were sound. The part of her body that betrayed her was her teeth. An animal that digests cellulose and lignin must have good teeth. For the last couple years of her life, she had only a few; then, in the last months of her life, she had none. If her life were “natural,” it would have ended in the jaws of a predator a couple of years ago, as she would have been weakened by malnourishment. Or, perhaps, without anyone to get in the way of the drives of hormones, she would have mated, and killed herself trying to gestate and lamb and lactate. As it was, she was kept alive with supplemental feed specifically designed for senior animals, and kept from the company of rams.

But, there are limits to how long we can elude nature. Mariah lost all her teeth; she could still eat the senior chow, but it required vigorous gumming, and she didn’t really get much cud to chew. She started losing weight, and the fact that it was winter did not help. Hungry much of the time, she went from being one of our wildest sheep to one who was most insistently friendly at feeding time.

The end, when it came—no, when I brought it—was no more unnatural than the rest of her life. I probably should have done the job sooner, but I hate the job and rationalized by telling myself that she still was enjoying her kibble. And really, one of the last commands from nature is that the body will keep trying as long as it can, longer, perhaps, than is good. And so it was. I carried her to a part of the property where she could find some tender grass, and gave her a pan of mineral, which she enjoyed, and I ended her life as suddenly—and, I fervently hope—as painlessly as I could.

We have taken these animals out of nature, and they give us their lives. In return, we owe them their lives: a good birth, a healthy, well-nourished and productive life, and at the end, as merciful an exit as we can provide.

A little about s!

HELLO!! THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT OUR PAGE!!

Here at Wiggle’n V Ranch, we take pride in the pups that we produce, and strive to produce pups that grow to be exceptional adults in conformation, trainability, work ability, and more. Our goal in planning each litter is to produce pups that conform to the Breed Standard set fourth by the registrations we are associated with (MASCA, ASDR, and AKC), as well as to continue to help better the breeds that we produce. Thus made obvious by continuous genetic testing on our breeding stock pedigrees, and past show status, and attendances at area conferences to gain in depth education regarding our breeds. We look forward to the future with our dogs, more conformation showing, herding trials, and more!

First and foremost, please understand that all breeding stock at Wiggle’n V Ranch are a part of our family. Many of our dogs are considered to be “Brothers” and “Sisters” to our children (just ask our kids!). A large majority of our dogs have nicknames such as “Son”, “Baby”, “Pretty Girl” “Sweet Boy” and “Momma”, and they ALL know that they are very much loved, appreciated, and SPOILED!! All our dogs have been blessings and pure joy to our family in one way or another, and we look forward to providing others with the love, companionship, joy, bliss and all that goes along with having a dog around; just as we have had the pleasure of experiencing these last nearly 8 years that we’ve been breeding.

With that being said, Wiggle’n V Ranch IS NOT a puppy mill. We DO NOT constantly produce pups year round, there are many months in between that we may not have a litter. Some years, we may only produce 1-2 litters a year, other times, we may have 3-4 litters a year, at no specific time. Each of our pups are handled daily from the time it is born, up until the very moment it leaves. All our pups are raised in our home, are well socialized with kids and adults, cats, other dogs both large and small, and more. Having a busy household and a small farm, allows our pups to be exposed to numerous different household sounds, textures, environments, taste, situations, and more that assist in providing you a well rounded pup.
