Exciting news! The first WA cria was born this morning. Large white female born to Prosecco. She’s very vigorous, nursing and exploring her environment. The Aunties are equally curious.

Welcome to VHF Prosecco’s Chablis!

Yay! The tractor arrives at the new farm today! I will finally be able to do some extra chores out there!

It’s been a long week and half, ferrying drinking water, pulling hay from the container storage, getting sufficient feed and trying to create a routine. Two large projects still needed- pulling water line from pump/well and the septic system. But funds are really short right now after major unexpected overruns. Trying to find affordable ways to get the water extended. I can work around the septic issues with a porta potty and gray water disposal but can’t live without water and power to operate the pump.

Prayers needed!

I would be remiss if I did not give a
Shout out to my friends, colleagues and partners in my farm relocation effort.

Big thanks to Mike Cates for his transport of the female alpacas and preparation for possible cria
Deliveries en route.

Thanks to Kristian Thordarson and his kids
For helping to catch, corral and ultimately load all the sheep.

You guys demonstrate the commitment, comradary, and support we each get
From this industry. My heartfelt thanks to each of you.

The farm, animals, equipment and others miscellaneous made the long, arduous trip across the country to our new location in Colville, WA

Animals are on site for the new farm while improvements continue. We have a well and pump but no power to the pump so stock water has to be hauled and delivered. I rigged up a system that can live in my truck bed but be filled
From my RV site. Need some help from same neighbor to make it work. I don’t want to take advantage of their kindness and abuse
It so want my own method of delivery.

Tiny house will be ok, but thankful for shipping container. It will save money and stress while I work to figure out trenching for water service, electrical and septic service. Can’t live big in a
very small space with limited storage with intention to save money, settle into a new
Community, find work and build the farm infrastructure.

Here’s another wonderful surprise! Celeste, an orphan who lost her mama last summer to cancer but who was adopted and co-nursed by Juliet while mama was still alive.

I am not a good farmer for livestock harvest. I just sold two intact ram lambs to neighbors for harvest and they promised to shoot before bleeding out. I don’t trust that and never want my animals harvested in a way that feels inhumane. I band all my ram lambs so I won’t have to do this but could not catch in enough
Time to do so.‘I will feel guilty for weeks after this.

I’ve skirted a number of fleeces since shearing last week and must say, the best fleeces are from my wethers-‘large, fine, Zipper crimp!
