💜 Pride Week Recap – Purple Day & Candlelight Dinner 💜🌈

Purple represents spirit, imagination, dignity, and creativity making it the perfect color to accompany our Candlelight Dinner experience (next post🤪)

For Purple Day, we celebrated one of nature’s most striking ingredients: the Stokes Purple® Sweet Potato from Frieda’s. Its vibrant purple hue comes from naturally occurring anthocyanins, the same antioxidant-rich compounds found in blueberries and blackberries. Beyond their beautiful color, anthocyanins have been associated with supporting heart health, cognitive function, and reducing oxidative stress.

Our purple sweet potatoes were roasted until tender and finished with a savory herb compound butter. They were topped with fresh Purple Radish Microgreens from Midwest Fresh Farms adding a delicate peppery bite and a final touch of color that celebrated the beauty of naturally purple foods.

Sunflower microgreens are one of the most popular varieties to grow at home and it's easy to see why 🌻

They're fast growing, have big beautiful cotyledons, a mild nutty and slightly sweet flavor, and studies say they're a complete protein source containing all the essential amino acids. Studies also say they're packed with healthy fats, vitamins A, B, D, E, and K, and minerals like iron, magnesium, potassium, and zinc.

Whether you're brand new to growing or you've been at it for a while, sunflowers are a variety that's always worth having on the rack. We personally grow ours on either our silicone reusable grow medium, or coco coir!

We are so sad to announce that tonight’s Farmers Market is CANCELLED due to the severe weather.

We know what you might be thinking if the skies clear up later: "But it stopped raining before 5p!"

Here's the scoop: because of the heavy rainfall we've already received, the park grounds are incredibly saturated. Even if the sun comes out, the area is simply too wet and muddy to safely accommodate our vendors setting up and the foot traffic of all our wonderful shoppers. We want to protect the park grounds and, most importantly, keep everyone safe and slip-free!

Thank you so much for understanding. Stay safe and dry tonight, and we can't wait to see you all next week! 🚜🍅🌻
