Fair week has finally slowed down enough for us to catch our breath!

First and foremost, we couldn’t be more proud of our 2026 show team: Violet, Paisley, Gwen, Lia, and Lincoln. They put in countless hours at home long before fair week ever started, and all of that hard work paid off with an incredible week in the show ring. They brought home a whole collection of ribbons and banners, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

Unfortunately, between Ashley being busy with Fair Board responsibilities and Ron helping keep the goat show running smoothly with the Goat Committee, we managed to get exactly ZERO photos of any of the kids with their goats and banners during the fair! 🤦‍♀️ We did manage to round up four of the five kids after the fair for this photo with their awards. Violet had to head to work, so she’s missing from the picture and so are her awards, but we’re just as proud of everything she accomplished fair week!

One of these years we’ll figure out how to help make the fair run and still remember to take pictures for the farm page!

As far as we know, every goat born in the Rusted Nail Boer Goats barn that was exhibited at the Perry County Fair earned a placing in its class- including those sold and shown by kids not on our show team! Even more exciting, Rusted Nail Boer Goats were represented in the final drive of every breeding division and in the market goat drive. Seeing our breeding program represented throughout the show ring is incredibly rewarding and reminds us why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who supports our farm, believes in our program, and trusts our genetics. We can’t wait to share more photos, individual accomplishments, and highlights from the week over the next several days. 💚

It’s been a little quiet here on the Rusted Nail Boer Goats page this week…and for good reason!

Fair week has kept us running in every direction. Between one of us serving on the Senior Fair Board behind the scenes and the other jumping in wherever help is needed, there just haven’t been enough hours in the day.

Even though we’ve been quiet online, our show team certainly hasn’t been! We’re incredibly proud of our exhibitors and our goats, with an amazing week in the show ring. Nearly all of the animals we entered earning banners and top placings were born and raised right here at Rusted Nail Boer Goats, and seeing them succeed with these hardworking kids is what it’s all about.

We’ll be sharing a full recap, lots of photos, and recognizing each exhibitor and accomplishment after the fair wraps up, so stay tuned!

For now, we’re going to soak in the last three days of the Perry County Fair. Good luck to everyone still showing, competing, and getting ready for the sale—we’re cheering you all on!

125 bales doesn’t sound like much but in this heat it was enough 😅

Every little bit we can store for the girls this winter helps, and we make sure the showmen know what kind of work it takes to keep a herd fed.

Today, we salute Ron Burgess

The fearless founder of Rusted Nail Boer Goats, a true American goat legend. Whether he’s wrangling chaos on the farm or arguing over his age with his mom, he embodies pure unpredictability. Happy birthday, Ron. Here’s to another wild year of goat glory!

Today we loaded up and headed to the Rivertown Jackpot in Marietta! With such a young show team this year, our biggest goal isn’t chasing banners—it’s getting our showmen (and goats!) in the ring, gaining experience, building confidence, and improving with every show.

We’re proud of how everyone represented Rusted Nail Boer Goats today!

Results:
• Lia with Jess – 1st Place, Class 5 Breeding Does
• Paisley with Skipper – 3rd Place, Class 5 Breeding Does
• Gwen with Ari – 4th Place, Class 5 Breeding Does
• Lincoln with Briar – 6th Place, Class 3 Breeding Does
• Levi with Connor – 8th Place in a large Market Wether class

Beyond the placings, we saw tremendous growth in the showmanship ring. Every one of our exhibitors showed more confidence, and our goats gained valuable ring experience too. That’s exactly what these jackpot shows are all about.

Congratulations to all of the kids! We’re excited to keep practicing, keep learning, and see where the rest of the show season takes this crew.

A great day at the Licking County Lamb Luau for our crew and goats.

We focused on giving our younger showmen some valuable ring experience. Gwen placed 5th in her showmanship class, and Levi earned Grand Champion Novice Showman.

Proud of all the kids today for stepping up and improving every time they show.

Ron’s goal at the show today: take a nap.Mission accomplished.
