Since we’ve got some new faces around here, we thought it might be a good time to re-explain how our little farm life is structured! 🌿
is our family homestead in the Corning/Kirkwood area—a name Rob and I came up with over 15 years ago, long before we had land, but right around the time we bought our very first chicks (from a very scary hatchery in the North State 😅). Call it manifestation or just a really solid gut feeling, but we always knew we were meant to live this way.
Fast forward to April 2022, and we finally bought our dream home—a historical homestead that once served as one of the original post office locations for the unincorporated town of Kirkwood. It’s got soul, stories, and just the right amount of charm and chaos.
In 2024, we partnered with another local farm in our neighboring county——and together we launched , the umbrella for all things chicken: hatching eggs, chicks, breeding projects, and some exciting new ideas in the works.
We also collaborate with several local farmers, artisans, and folks in our community who help us keep the Abbey a true trading post. We wear a lot of hats—but we also know we can’t be good at everything. About half of the goods we offer are made right here on the homestead, and the other half are traded with people we admire and trust. It’s a beautiful blend of homesteading, community, and mutual support.
If the names sound clever or quirky, that’s because they are. These names—and all the partnerships and collaboration efforts behind them—are rooted in one simple truth: the key to our work is FUN. 🥚✨
