Hello Farm Fridays Families and Friends!

Hope everyone had a happy holiday season and a good start to the new year.

We’re enjoying a bit of a January thaw here, and I’m loving every muddy, melty minute of it. The snow disappearing feels like a small gift this time of year.

Of course, farm life keeps things interesting — last night Charles, our Charolais bull, decided to go for an adventure. Since I had a two-year-old with me, I ended up herding him back in… with my car. Not exactly textbook farming, but it got the job done.

Just another reminder that no two days out here are ever the same.

Hello Farm Fridays Families and Friends!

This Farm Friday is a little different. We wanted to take a moment to share something important from the heart of our farm.

After 12 years, we made the very difficult decision to sell all of our dairy cows and step away from milking.

It’s a bittersweet change. On one hand, it’s incredibly liberating — dairy cows are a twice-a-day, 365-day commitment, no days off, ever. But on the other hand… for over a decade, those girls depended on us every single day. They shaped our routines, our seasons, our lives.

Walking into the barn and not seeing their faces is really hard. These cows helped build Cutting Hill Beef Co. into what it is today, and they’ll always be part of our story.

While we won’t be milking anymore, we’re still here doing what we love — raising beef and pork — and we’ll continue offering local eggs at the farmstand.

Change is part of farm life, but that doesn’t make it easy. We’re grateful for you for being part of our community — for caring about our animals, our work, and our family. It means more than you know.

So here’s to our girls — for all the milk, the memories, and the heart they brought to this farm.

Hello Farm Families and Friends!

It’s been a bit of a sniffly week around here — the colds have made their rounds, but we’re hanging in there! On the exciting side, Ramsay got the mats installed at his new jiu jitsu gym — Middlebury American Jiu Jitsu Academy (yep, if you didn’t know, he opened a gym with a partner!).

Out on the farm, the cows are finishing up what’s left of the pasture grass before winter really sets in. It’s that time of year when everything slows down a bit, and comfort food starts sounding real good.

Hello Farm Families and Friends!

Happy Halloween! We’ll have a little bear going out “treating” tonight, as he likes to call it — the cuteness level is off the charts.

After wishing for rain all summer, we finally got it! The past few days have been wet and gloomy, but that’s just fine — it’s given me time to catch up on office work, drink too much coffee (and maybe a little wine 🍷).

Of course, one of the heifer groups decided the rainiest day of the week was the perfect time to go exploring, so there was plenty of splashing and chasing involved to get them back in. And Rocko — our boar — went on his annual fall “hike.” Every year, right around hunting season, he seems to think it’s the perfect time to take a stroll around the neighborhood.

It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to stay in and cook something cozy — or as our friend Alex likes to call them, “wholesome” meals.
