Full circle moment alert! ✨

As a kid, the Hall of Science was always my absolute favorite museum. I used to run up and down those exhibits, eyes wide with wonder, completely captivated by every little discovery. Fast forward 20+ years later, and here I am - returning to that magical place with Ayana, vending at Queens Taste for the second year in a row! 🎉

The child version of me is literally screaming with excitement at this opportunity. It feels surreal to come back not just as a visitor, but as part of the community that celebrates this amazing space.

When I was just eight years old, I looked my Grandma Desiree Winifred “Pinky” Chung in the eyes while standing in our Home Kitchen and told her she needed to open a restaurant-because the way she healed our family through her food was a gift the world needed. I’ll never forget the deep, knowing gaze and gentle smile she gave me in that moment. It was as if she saw my future before I did, silently passing me the torch to carry our legacy forward.

About three years later, Grandma transitioned to be with our Creator. Her love, wisdom, and recipes became my guiding light. At Cooking with Ayana LLC, food is so much more than what’s on the plate-it’s a tapestry of our stories, our struggles, and our triumphs.

Through my own journey-rising from personal crisis and finding my soul tribe-I discovered that food can heal, connect, and uplift our community in ways that transcend tradition. Every meal I prepare is a tribute to our ancestors, a celebration of our heritage, and a step toward reuniting the diaspora. Our plight, our passage, our lineage-they can all be retraced and restored through the food we share.

I honor Grandma Pinky with every dish, bringing her photo to every event I host and I invite you to join me on this journey of healing, connection, and ancestral upliftment. Together, let’s reclaim our stories-one bite at a time. 🖤🍽️✨
