The latest addition to the farm! It's a greenhouse/potting shed! I've always wanted one, and had plenty of salvaged lumber and vintage beadboard in my barn loft, so I hired a guy to build it.
I was wanting that VINTAGE look... since the old beadboard had the original teal colored paint left on the boards, I didn't want to paint over it... but instead, preserve its original beauty. I had the paint color matched, because some of the beadboard had lots of bare wood where the paint had flaked off too much..
So....this project was done using mostly salvaged building material...the windows I found on marketplace. I was wanting old wood framed windows, with the panes, but I couldn't find enough that matched, so I found enough aluminum framed ones that did match, and I'm going to use thin beaded wood strips, paint them white, and glue them to the glass , so it will look like they're windows with 4 panes. Sometimes you just gotta improvise! The door was salvaged ( it's not what I really wanted, but I'm going to give it a more distressed look). If I can find an OLD screen door, I want one! So if anyone has a vintage one, please let me know. There's 2 tall wood cabinets I'm using for storage, they're from the 1950's, and they have original paint... it's a pale greenish color, so I'm just sanding down the edges, to expose some of the bare wood (giving it more of a distressed look too).
The shed isn't quite finished, there's lots of shelving to add inside, as well as finishing some trim, etc. I had saved an old white ceramic doorknob, that I salvaged many years ago, ( 1950's era) from the old farm where I grew up. Back then we had a tool shed at the barn there, so I took it off the door, and kept it hoping one day I'd repurpose it! So, it's now found its new purpose on the potting shed door! I love it! The next thing is to add a flagstone pathway leading through the garden gate up to the potting shed. Once that's done I'll add flower beds around the shed, and get my veggie garden prepped for planting in the Spring!!

Bluebonnets are sparse this Spring, but... they're still pretty, and smell so good!

The backyard view . There's nothing better than sitting on the porch watching the evening sun go down while the horses graze, oh and yes there's Harry the donkey too!
