Did we have an absolute banger year in the garden this year? No. Did we get a ton of produce considering how many seedlings I put in? Also no. Am I still in love with how it turned out? Absolutely.
I got an okay amount of produce. Im assuming deer got in my fence and ate my cauliflower, my salad blends bolted, I got so busy that roughly half my tomatoes rotted on the vine, and my squash.. well the beetles got the best of that crop this year.
But thats the thing about gardening, even the ones who know what they are doing have hard years. The last few years have been a testament of my will and determination to grow something, heck anything, for my family. Between taking over the market, running my kiddo all over the state, volunteering on a community events committee, and trying to run my farm.. its been a long and trying few years.
But! What I may have "failed" at is small, so much so that i don't consider it a fail, just a learning opportunity. I succeeded at feeding the local pollinators and that is a win. I have enough tomatoes to make some sauce. I have well matured cucumbers for seeds! And I have memories of my family working together in the garden and getting to watch the pollinators help us out too.
This year I took a break from growing produce to sell, I sold some seedlings in the spring and that helped pay for my seeds for this year and some of next. A huge thank you to those who purchased some from me, I hope you all had a wonderful, bountiful harvest. I hope to see your smiling faces next year for more seedlings and maybe even some produce.
As of now, my focus is shifting to winter mode.
I am always baking, so if you would like something reach out! I am always at the The Bainbridge Farm and Artisan Market, every friday, so stop in and grab a treat and shop the other local vendors. Many of them have saved my t**h this year with their wonderful produce and goodies as well. 🥖🥐🥧
