It is becoming more common that our children fill their days with activities and sports creating a system in which many people 20+ year olds haven’t yet experienced working a job.

To be clear I would much rather see kids in athletics that sitting at home on the couch, playing video games.

I also believe we were created to create, work is a blessing and there are great rewards from the work of our hands that many young people aren’t getting to experience.

There’s a fair bit of discussion that the government should require country of origin labeling for beef.

Call me crazy but I have a hard time believing that more government regulations will be good for my family… or your family for that matter.

However I would be happy to clarify that our Family Farm Beef is raised here in Nebraska.

“If you homeschool your kids, they may not adapt well to cultural norms.”

My boy here is 13 years old and just finished his 7th grade year last week.

He doesn’t play video games, have a smartphone, or play organized sports.

Instead, he helps his dad on the farm hauling hay, checking cows, and mowing.

He has also worked for 8 different neighbors doing farm work and clocked nearly 40 hours last week alone.

He has saved his money and already owns his own hay swather and round baler.

He competed in an FFA public speaking competition and qualified for state.

He attends church and reads his Bible regularly.

So yes… our homeschool boy may not grow up to be a typical 13-year-old who conforms to cultural norms.

But we’re proud of him anyway.

Have you ever seen a politician turn down a crowd?

This one did…

David Huebner is a new friend of mine and when I asked him about hosting a get together for him, we talked dates.

We settled on a Saturday, and then my wife reminded me we were participating in the Walk for Life supporting our local Women’s Resource Center.

Since David is strongly pro-life, he asked about joining us.

Naturally, the idea came up to simply hold a Q&A with David afterward since there would already be a crowd gathered.

He declined.

David told me that something as important as this pro-life event shouldn’t have anything taking the spotlight away from that message.

That told me a lot about his character.

If you live in Nebraska’s Third District and protecting the lives of babies is important to you, vote for David Huebner on May 12.

I can’t believe I prayed this over a politician…

This is my friend, David Huebner—

David spent his career in the Border Patrol. He’s been offered significant bribes—the kind most people will never face—and he refused them.

That tells you something about a man.

Now he’s running to represent Nebraska’s Third District—the second most conservative district in the nation.

And he’s made a commitment:

To serve the people of this district… and refuse the kind of money that comes with strings attached.

No corporate money.
No special interest strings.
No backroom deals.

I literally prayed for my friend that if he’s elected, he would serve with integrity—and come back one of the poorest politicians in Washington.

And then let God take care of the rest.

On May 12, I’ll be voting for:

Faith. Family. Patriotism.

We don’t need perfect leaders.
But we do need honest ones.

Maybe I’m crazy but I would rather take my daughter with me to work than hand her a phone and let her end up playing a video game or listening to Taylor Swift.

Some folks will be offended by that comment but they can just buy their politically correct beef at Walmart.

I’m just kidding, those people are vegans or the folks who buy turkey bacon… they don’t buy beef.
