We had a busy weekend on the farm. Saturday we were at Stonefort Farmer’s Market and Sunday we did a lot of work on the farm ahead of the rain.
Cleaning the house, Cutting grass, w**d eating, moving pigs to greener pasture, chicken coop clean out and refresh, harvesting produce and the dogs even snuck in a swim.
We will be at the market again this Saturday. If you need pork before then message us on here or text us at 618-422-4670.
Enjoy a small glimpse into what our Sunday looked like.

Remember that feral gardening tip I shared last week?
Well now we are enjoying the benefits of “throwing seeds”.

Don’t let anyone tell you how to garden. You don’t need expensive fancy equipment.

Just some seeds and a prayer.
Maybe a little water too 😊

Anyone else a feral gardener?? You just throw caution or seeds in this case to the wind?
“Throw it and grow it”
Several weeks ago I threw:
Sweet Corn
Yellow squash
Zucchini
Okra
Long beans
Bush beans
Cucumbers
Lettuce
Dill
Sunflowers

Today I threw:
Mini watermelon seeds
3 different types of pumpkins
Acorn squash
Butternut squash

I bought my pepper, tomato and onion plants.

What are you throwing in your garden and hoping it grows??

Yes there is a lot of w**ds and no I will not be removing them. We are feral gardening here.

🚨We will not be at the Stonefort Farmers Market this weekend, 5/30. We had to send some pigs for processing to restock. We are hoping to be back fully stocked by 6/6; we'll keep you all updated.🚨

Enjoy the sweaty and dirty picture of what I always look like after farm chores. 🐷🐓

The Lord’s timing is never coincidence. His timing is intentional and with purpose, always.

I (Brandi) have missed Wednesday night Bible study the past few weeks because of end of school functions. We are studying Nehemiah and last night was such a heart filled reminder of never forgetting what the Lord has done in my life and for the farm.
I hope you take the time to dive in the scripture of Deuteronomy 8 and Nehemiah 9.

Guarding Against a "Full" Heart

If you spend enough time working the land, caring for livestock, and watching things grow, it’s easy to look out at a beautiful pasture and think, "Look what my hands have built."
But lately, we’ve been reflecting on two powerful chapters of Scripture that offer a beautiful, humbling gut-check for anyone who works the soil: Deuteronomy 8 and Nehemiah 9.
In Deuteronomy 8, before the people ever set foot in a land of plenty, they were given a strict warning: When you eat and are full, when you build fine houses, and when your herds and flocks multiply... do not forget the Lord your God. Don't let your heart become proud and think your own strength got you this wealth.
Centuries later, in Nehemiah 9, the people look back on their history and realize they did exactly what they were warned against. They got comfortable, they took the blessings for granted, and they forgot the Giver.
Running this pasture-raised pork farm is hard, physical work. There are early mornings, late nights, and muddy boots. But as our pastures green up and our animals thrive, we are actively choosing to pause and guard our hearts against that forgetfulness.
Every green blade of grass, every healthy animal and every ounce of strength we have to do this work, and every single loyal customer who supports our family farm—it is all a gift. We didn’t build this in our own strength; we are simply stewards of the abundance He provided.
We never want to take a single acre, a single blessing, or a single day on this farm for granted.
To everyone who partners with us on this journey by putting our pork on your family’s table: thank you for being a part of the blessing we get to experience every day. 🙌🏼
"But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth..." — Deuteronomy 8:18

Tyler took this picture of the truck and trailer driving away the other morning. This is me finally getting the courage to take the pigs to the processor without him. I did it! I need to practice backing the trailer though 🤪

L4 Family Farm takes a moment to honor the memory of those who have sacrificed their lives for our nation.

We would like to extend our deepest respect to U.S. Air Force Special Tactics Combat Controller Technical Sergeant John A. Chapman, who gave his life during combat in Takur Ghar, Afghanistan, on March 4, 2002.

We encourage you to read about his story and the stories of others who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to remember their bravery and legacy.
