Sunday Spread 🩶
Most weeks, it's pretty easy for me to write about any given topic. I pay attention to my surroundings and assess things that I see/hear throughout the week. Whatever is heaviest on my heart is what I write about on Sundays.
This week was not one of those weeks. 🤣
I asked my husband if he had any topics I could write about. He said discernment. I said that's good -- especially during election season -- but it felt a little too heavy for me this week, so stay tuned for that another time. He then proceeded to tell me a story, which sparked my inspiration for this week's post!
I've been on him to go to the doctor and get a checkup. He's that stubborn blue-collar type that would almost rather not know if something's wrong. (Who can relate??🙋♀️) But I knew he'd been thinking pretty hard about it. He told me while on break at work, he was in his truck and decided to pray about it. He asked for a sign. He said, "Halei, no lie, when I opened my eyes, my check engine light came on."
I'll admit that my brain was screaming "WHYYYY is your check engine light on??" while my mouth was giving him praise for the inspiration. Oops.
But isn't that story amazing?! The check engine light alerts us to potential problems with the system. A heads up, if you will.
And isn't that how it works in life, too? Often, we ask for, and are given signs to guide our next steps - if we are paying attention. Sometimes it's literally a physical body check we are in need of.
Sometimes, it's our hearts or heads that need examining.
Sometimes, it's our spiritual life.
✝️2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
Friends, as you move through this week, I encourage you to act as if your check engine light is on. Check your body, your heart, your head, your spiritual life. Is anything in need of repair?
By the way, he did go to the doctor! Now I just have to worry about why that pesky check engine light was really on...
Have a blessed week! 🩶
