My mission is to create delicious spreads from my home kitchen for you and your loved ones to enjoy. A little bit about myself - I am from small

town Crescent, Oklahoma, where I currently reside. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 13 years and we have two great kiddos! I am a Registered Nurse and decided to take a break from health care after the birth of my daughter. I have always enjoyed making food and sweets for holidays and family functions. I learned to make jelly about a decade ago, but it wasn't something I had a great interest in. A few years ago, I began harvesting sand plums and this ignited a passion to make jelly again! I was able to meet new people and hear stories of how it reminded them of their grandma or childhood memories, and it really warmed my heart. I began to branch out to local Farmers Markets and added Christmas Jam to the menu. In 2024, I have taken some big chances. To date I have made 30+ flavors of jams and jellies. These have been sold at Farmers Markets in 3 towns and currently reside in two retail shops - Jones Garden Center in Crescent, OK and Lakeview Market Hub in Yukon, OK. I was also ecstatic to enter my goodies in the Logan County Free Fair as well as the Oklahoma State Fair. At the local fair my cranberry jelly and strawberry jalapeno jams placed first. I had four other entries that placed second. At the state fair, my blackberry jelly placed 2nd! :)

I am thankful for so many wonderful opportunities this year! I have met some awesome people who have become new friends. The glory goes to God for giving me this gift and allowing me to share with others.

Sunday Spread 💙

Happy Father's Day to all the deserving dads out there!

Did you know Father's Day originated in West Virginia in 1908 as a one-time commemoration of 362 men who perished in a coal mine explosion? The following year, a daughter of a widower fought to make Father's Day a recognized holiday in Washington. It was celebrated statewide in June of 1910, but it wasn't until 1972 that Father's Day became an official holiday in the US. WOW!

Billy Graham quoted, "A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed, and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society."

I would have to agree. Fathers help shape who we become. They teach us lessons along the way - sometimes with a
'do as I say, not as I do' approach; sometimes with stern words and actions; sometimes with tenderness and encouragement. A lot of the sacrifices and lessons go unnoticed until we age and reflect, then put them into action.

When I was in nursing leadership, there were times when difficult decisions had to be made, when I felt like things were falling apart or I was completely misunderstood. When discussing my defeated feelings with a friend, she told me that I was the right person for the position because I was "a people's people." I've never forgotten that line. As I gave her statement some thought, I realized that those leadership qualities were taught through observation of my dad's long-term role in county leadership. You can ask around and you'll likely find citizens who agree that he tries to put the people's best interest first, often doing the hard thing and the right thing when no one is looking. I must have picked up on that somewhere along the way not only implemented those qualities into nurse management but continue to weave those into the values and framework of this small business.

Today, I encourage you to reflect on values or lessons your father has taught you and celebrate what you've learned.

Have a great week!

Once upon a time, a jar of Strawberry Jalapeno Jam decided it needed a break from retail shelving. It wanted to explore and see the US. Now it’s living its best life in Utah. 🧡 (And can you blame it with those views?!)

Thanks Trent Wittrock for the picture!!

Sunday Spread 🩶

Most weeks, it's pretty easy for me to write about any given topic. I pay attention to my surroundings and assess things that I see/hear throughout the week. Whatever is heaviest on my heart is what I write about on Sundays.

This week was not one of those weeks. 🤣

I asked my husband if he had any topics I could write about. He said discernment. I said that's good -- especially during election season -- but it felt a little too heavy for me this week, so stay tuned for that another time. He then proceeded to tell me a story, which sparked my inspiration for this week's post!

I've been on him to go to the doctor and get a checkup. He's that stubborn blue-collar type that would almost rather not know if something's wrong. (Who can relate??🙋‍♀️) But I knew he'd been thinking pretty hard about it. He told me while on break at work, he was in his truck and decided to pray about it. He asked for a sign. He said, "Halei, no lie, when I opened my eyes, my check engine light came on."

I'll admit that my brain was screaming "WHYYYY is your check engine light on??" while my mouth was giving him praise for the inspiration. Oops.

But isn't that story amazing?! The check engine light alerts us to potential problems with the system. A heads up, if you will.
And isn't that how it works in life, too? Often, we ask for, and are given signs to guide our next steps - if we are paying attention. Sometimes it's literally a physical body check we are in need of.
Sometimes, it's our hearts or heads that need examining.
Sometimes, it's our spiritual life.

✝️2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

Friends, as you move through this week, I encourage you to act as if your check engine light is on. Check your body, your heart, your head, your spiritual life. Is anything in need of repair?

By the way, he did go to the doctor! Now I just have to worry about why that pesky check engine light was really on...

Have a blessed week! 🩶
