Well, renovations to secure the foundation on the horse barn started yesterday. I did help with removal of the rotten wood and years of old storage upstairs. Securing the foundation is a one person job. So I put my 90s girlie music on and made a stained glass window for the horse barn. Underwhelming from the outside but amazing from the inside. And yes, I still listen to CDs.

Do you believe in signs?

I personally try to govern my life’s decisions by what faith puts in my path. Running a dairy farm was one of those faith decisions.

Our horse barn dates back to the late 1800s, and it’s in serious need of repair. The foundation is crumbling, and one of the major beams is rotting. This week, we decided it would be too time-consuming and costly to renovate it. So, we made the difficult decision to tear it down and build a nice little two-horse run-in.

We sketched it out and priced the supplies. We were just about ready to place the order. Then, this morning, while I was having coffee with the horses, I felt the pressure of a stare.

I looked up. And look who was watching me.

I love this old barn. But we’re short on time and funds, and sometimes you have to make the practical choice. Still, I love this barn. I guess they do too.

Maybe it’s just another small, subtle sign—one that will probably make life a little more magical, even if it doesn’t always lead me down the easiest or most cost-effective road. ❤️

side note: from prior post, all 3 caterpillars turned into Monarchs and have been enjoying the flowers and pumpkins.

What are these I see? Of course feeding on the milkweed in the middle of my floral walking paths, guess no mowing that path. Reason why we do not use weedkillers or spray. All fertilized with our girls' manure.

Before being a farmer, I wanted to be a puppeteer. I love Jim Henson. Here is our Fjord horse Aegen, channeling the Goblin King. But farm update. I know everyone is waiting for the cheese curds...our new Vat came and we are in the process of installation. Thank you all for your patience as we expand.
