More of Honey, but being awesome this time! She can pivot in hand, is loping so nice now that you would never guess it wasn’t always her favorite gait, and she is trail riding (even past the cow) like a little red baby boss!

Fairly matched fight: adolescent horse v. adolescent human. 😂 We do not tolerate rude table manners; if you insist on acting uncivilized, Ally stops mucking to sit on your breakfast, until you remember appropriate dining etiquette. 🤣

Dan had a lovely rest yesterday, and has been enjoying poultice, hoof packing, liniment baths, and ice all along, so he is feeling froggy fresh for a new week of work! Even though they are ready for a reset, those spoon heels and clips came in clutch, while we were longeing earlier, because, in the throes of his feisty frolics, he forged dramatically quite a few times, but nothing budged. 😅🙌 Very much loving the new functional skill set we’re developing; I had to run inside mid-sesh, so he got tied to a tree out front for a few and never thought anything of it. 😂❤️ Baby 🦄 in the making!

If rolling all the way over truly is the sign of a good horse, then this little guy is surely going to be one of the greats! 🤨 Got him all cleaned up to go home from baby bootcamp, but, when we went out to longe off the zoomies, he promptly dropped to the ground to effectively rub off my bath in no less than twenty immediately successive tosses. 😑 Not even mad at the little bo**er though because he is so dang cute. 🥰 His toe flick at the trot and front leg at the lope are also STUPID, y’all! 🦄 Gah, between weanlings, yearlings, and 2YOs, we have some SERIOUS talent coming up! 🤩

I’ll just let this baby’s brain speak for itself because he had more patience with them than I did! Lol!

Currently whip shopping because, today, the Huntsman let me borrow one and taught me how to use it! It came in very handy for gently shooing away a sweet little hound, to keep her from investigating Dan's front leg, so, now, I’m smitten with its practicality and must own one!

This morning was great practice in a multitude of ways, and Dan is really coming into his own out there in the field! I couldn’t be more pleased with him. 🥰 Giving him all the special treatment today, letting him rest through the weekend, and then we’ll be back at it Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week! 🥳

I know it looks like we’ve converted to hunting exclusively, lol, but we’ve still been super busy behind the scenes with all our other favorite horses that do all our other favorite disciplines! Baby Western Pleasure pone, Cash, is coming along so nicely! Today, he worked on squaring up, in addition to continuing impressive improvement during his light longe session. I can’t wait to ride his lope in a couple years! It has gotten so soft and slow! 🤤 Plus, he’s going to be drop dead gorgeous - the glow on those shoulders/b***y muscles! 🤩

Hunting Pupdate 🐶🦊

This morning, Dan and Annie gave the Huntsman, Masters, and members of Mooreland an opportunity to go above and beyond in solidifying my opinion of them as exemplary horsemen and humans! The were genuinely supportive and, as always, informative, PLUS, they made shockingly generous, accommodative offers to help our green horses become confident hunters! 🥰

What I LOVE most about this group is that they stay fast to old world traditions, while still, somehow, making such a daunting new endeavor so deliciously inviting! I couldn’t respect these ladies and gentlemen more, and I love them all dearly already! If I have any kiddos that would like to learn more about fox hunting, please don’t hesitate to reach out! The equine industry could use a return to this way of life, and I can’t possibly recommend this hunt enough! 🦄

P.S. How about these shots of Sara and Dan???
A perfectly picturesque pair! 🤩

The list of things that are “absolutely as hard to do as they actually look” is topped by straddling a pole at the walk! This was part of a complex lope up to a walk-over, sidepass, straddle pole, back thru, and then walk forward into a box (360°) combination that Ashley and Bonnie managed masterfully! 🤩

The Mooreland Puppy Show was everything and MORE! Almost as much as the actual riding, I love learning about the hounds and the history of the Mooreland Hunt! Leslie’s family home is incredible (it was built in 1826) - the entire neighborhood is simply sumptuous! Kacy, Ally, Emma, and I had a blast mingling with the judges, neighbors, land owners, etc. prior to and during the show, and then sharing the most magnificent margaritas and tastiest tacos with old friends and new ones in the courtyard! I swear, even the weather adores Mooreland because, yet again, the afternoon couldn’t have turned out any more perfectly! 🥰 Pictured first are the winning dog (the woolly) and bitch (the lemon and white) - my favorite little female ended up Best In Show! And the collage is of the most… animated… guy there! 😂 I can’t get over what wonderful care and training these humans give their horses and the hounds! “Unfortunately,” y’all are going to have to see and hear so much about these gorgeous people, places, puppies, and ponies, lol, because I can’t contain my love for them or for Liz; thank you again for welcoming me into your incredible world!

Because can you reallyyyyyy be an all-around barn without fox hunting, too?!? I have no idea how I managed all my years in Europe (especially those spent on a NATO base surrounded by amazing Brits) without ever going, but it is Dan and my new obsession! Y’all, he was RIDICULOUSLY good for hound exercises yesterday morning (a tired Dan is a happy Dan)! Like, he legitimately wants to do this with his life - his freak of a hunter peek can’t be ignored, so he’s still going to have to do big things at huge shows, too, lol, but he can at least dabble with the doggos in his free time. Annie also gets to go Tuesday because the four year old baby gelding was such a good boy that I actually trust to him to take out a client, who needs a ride until her import arrives! The people of Mooreland (who are super informative, SUPER inviting, and suuuuuuper fun) and the bugle are now my favorite things in the entire world! We are going to a puppy show with them this afternoon - squeeee, sigh… thanks to the the social scene side of things, it’s a complete dream… country club meets horses - I’m officially obsessed. 🥰

I could be a fantastic labor and delivery nurse with my intense motivational energy! 🤣 If you’re trying to translate/interpret my squawking… Ally was working on staying with her horse through the grid, so she was supposed to grab mane, to feel Dagan’s motion, and apply leg, to avoid an add at the one stride. Excellently executed in the end!!! 🥳🙌

Krymsuns Good Karma
2013 AQHA/PHBA Mare

15.2 hh

Has earned PHBA Open and Amateur All-Around and Reserve All-Around Awards with points in Halter, Showmanship, Pleasure, Horsemanship, and Trail.

Caroline also does:

Jumping
Camping
Cow Work
Trail Riding
In-hand Trail
Ranch Riding
Youth and Adult Lessons
Extreme Cowboy Obstacles
Dressage (complete with advanced lateral movements, flying lead changes, canter pirouettes)

You name it… The list goes on and on.

I have hundreds of pretty pictures we have taken of this mare over the years and even more nice things to say about her. She is IG model gorgeous (), so much so that, lately, I have been keeping her around simply because I love looking at her, lol!

We are only considering letting Caroline go to a perfect new home now because our breeding program’s focus has shifted to our stallion prospect (her son - she is a fabulous broodmare), and, even then, it has been a difficult decision, since she is awesome at everything and a ridiculously easy keeper (she currently lives barefoot on our back forty in a herd situation and stays looking show-ready on ration balancer and mixed grass).

No vices. The sweetest mare you will ever meet! Can clip inside her ears without a halter - loves being pampered! Self-loads onto the trailer, keeps an immaculate stall, great for the farrier, etc. Full of fun personality and limitless potential. Located here in Cullman, AL at Future Performance Horses. She is not currently in consistent training, but she is being ridden casually, whenever we need an extra horse for someone to hop on, and she came straight out of the pasture one weekend this summer to win the first extreme cowboy competition she has ever done (see TikTik link for video: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRabnhpd/). She is entered in the EXCA Regional Championships on 10/1/22.

Anyone else feel compelled at least a hundred times a day to pull out your camera and capture the pretty because your job is just too damn amazing to let it go on without pause? Everything about this life can break us - our bones, our hearts, our bank accounts - but, it’s still so beautiful, it never fails to stop me in my tracks… that’s what makes it truly dangerous. Luckily, the power they have over us, they also lend us; we borrow the horse’s spirit and their resilience, and we persevere through so many genuinely catastrophic events on a daily basis that, even occurring in isolation, would decidedly derail and devastate normal people. I think we’re able to consistently come through the other side because this is what’s waiting on us. 🥰

It wasn’t too terribly long ago that I remember Elizabeth asking if I thought she might be ready, maybe in six more months or so, to start ground pole work towards fences… I was like, girl, you’re ready now; we begin next ride! 🙌😁 Here she is, less than six months from that conversation, doing grids with bounces and going over her very first oxer! I love Tuesdays with Elizabeth - she is the perfect kind of perfectionist and is fabulously coachable! Introspective and self-aware, with enviable listening skills! 🥳🤠

Likeeeeee lay down epic inaugural slide marks in our new dirt! 😁 Looking forward to so many future birthdays doing just as many fun things!

This kid is the prettiest headed baby I think I have ever met! He is also SUPER sweet, pleasantly in-your-pocket, and soooooo chill! Unloaded from his three day trip happy, healthy, and hungry, lol! From what I’ve seen of this c**t in the past 14 hours, I’m a newfound fan of Mightty Mouse! 🦄😍

This place is bustling today! Additional lights going in here at the small arena and finishing touches being put on the footing over in our big one! 🙌 Heavy equipment humming everywhere, and the horses are completely unfazed, lol! I know it’s because they’re 💯 as excited as we are about all the upgrades! 😜

There is nothing like a horse to know when a human heart needs healing. This afternoon, Roscoe was offering up the kind of hugs that only the goodest of sweet old man geldings can give. I told his mom he was also probably thinking… She looks like she could use a cookie. I know I like cookies. Maybe she’ll share her cookie. I bet that would make her feel even better. Sharing is caring. 😂🥰🦄

09/18/2022

Today reminded me nostalgically of showing as a youth and professionally that there is still a fierce competitor buried under the trainer, who had become too happy with surviving baby horses and appreciating the small silver linings from our troubled ones.

This trip to Tennessee was calculated, important birthdays were missed, rides had strategy, kids woke up in the back seat, after being on the road since the most offensive hours of the morning, wondering what state we were in, lol!

When the pressure was on, both the mares we hauled delivered: Annie came through in a bunch of big ways and each was a testament to the truly legitimate partner she has become, one who is ready to go savage for me and kick it into untapped gears under any circumstances (video in the comments of her giddy-up and GO); on the flip side, out of the goodness of Hailee’s heart, Emma’s little horse gave more of herself than she has ever been asked, trained, or prepared to do - just like my smol human, who also never fails to come in clutch!

I have the absolute BEST, most supportive family and friends. Thank you to everyone who makes these moments possible, nothing goes unnoticed - every encouraging conversation (that always occurs just as the back of my mind is starting to think for a split second that I might want to give the insanity a rest and just sleep or vacation like a normal human); every bucket of stress-free forage, every drop of water, every dang cookie, and every blade of grass everyone hand delivers to my mammal’s mouth; every fence Jonathan fixes that the left-home-horses destroy while we’re gone; every mile traveled, every tire changed, every night spent away, every nap taken in a hammock or on a grassy hillside; every commentated video recorded, air-dropped, and watched ad nauseam; every MagnaWave, massage, farrier, and chiro session slipped in to accommodate our crazy schedule; and every shift our fabulous barn help covers, so we can confidently step away knowing the ponies here are in good hands… it is all beyond my ability to do appropriate justice in acknowledging and celebrating! Just know I am eternally grateful for my ride or dies!

Next, forget World, we are on to prepping for the Olympics, so Emma can go to Paris in 2024. 😂

09/16/2022

🤣🤣🤣 A day in the actual life. 🤠🐉➡️🦄 My mind is on its own sound track 100% of the time, lol! Original music is pretty fantasticcccc - turn up the volume because it totally makes the clip. Bronc to beautiful. ❤️ Ally is the best videographer ever! 😂 She loves when things get Western - meanwhile, my goal is BORING. 😅 I’ll compromise on capturing both in the same session. 😉

Knew I was going to need to take a horse to fill our Open Jumper class tomorrow morning, so I pulled Emma’s little mare, Hailee, out of the back 40 to make sure we weren’t going to die, if it was her I hopped around the course. Now I’m kind of obsessed with riding the sweet beast and worried she might actually beat Annie - she is the handiest hunter ever. 🤣 Wouldn’t even be mad, if she did! 😂❤️ My flower child has done such a good job with this hippie rascal. 🍄
