A friend introduced me to the idea of using AI to create a virtual advisory board: a roundtable of different perspectives and experiences to help evaluate ideas, challenge assumptions, and, where appropriate, even take action.
I decided to try it, and quickly discovered is that one board isn't enough. Different projects benefit from different perspectives, so I've built several advisory boards, each with its own purpose.
When I need another opinion, I don't just ask for answers. I've instructed them to ask clarifying questions, challenge my reasoning, point out blind spots, and suggest alternative approaches. Then I decide what actions to take.
AI keeps getting better at gathering information, surfacing patterns, and drawing from countless examples of what has and has not worked before.
We still choose what matters and how to use the resources that are available to us.
Our tools will continue to evolve, which means we have to practice sensible stewardship and strategic foresight alongside technical skills.
Yes... my "AI for Excel Week" somehow turned into two weeks. It was dense material, and I wanted to improve not only my Excel and prompting skills, but I also felt I needed to find the humanity in the conversation between 2 of my favorite tools.

This chapter really resonated with me. When I'm with people, I am in the Here And Now, giving my full attention. Otherwise, I am in the future, applying lessons and implementing improvements, using my tools to stay ahead of the curve.

As a case study, I look at Rocketman Vineyards' success with our lower alcohol wines and the questions we were asking back when CGPT went online. One conversation years ago became a theory, which became an experiment, which became a series of tastings with resounding acclaim, and now our Carneros Estate Pinot Noir is one of our top performers.

With the right use of AI, predictive business management is today's reality.
