A very warm MISA welcome to Stéphanie de Bouard-Rivöal, Owner and CEO of Château Angelus, and Yves de Launay, Executive Vice President of Angelus Americas. Angelus has a special place in the heart of MISA and we’re honored to host such esteemed guests, especially since this is Stéphanie's first visit to MISA headquarters.

Members of the DFW w**e trade joined us for an engaging Château Angelus Masterclass, where we tasted Blanc de Milieu 2023, Tempo d'Angelus 2023, Carillon d'Angelus 2019 and 2015, and Château Angelus 2014 and 2020. This wonderful experience showcased Angelus' w**emaking prowess and highlighted the estate's recent innovations in the cellar. Their brand new cellar is buried 7 meters underground and includes revolutionary inverted, suspended truncated-cone vats in a 100% gravity flow system. All of the CO2 produced during fermentation is captured by this system. Angelus is truly on the cutting-edge of Saint Émilion! MISA was proud to welcome Julien Barthe, General Manager for Château Beau-Séjour Bécot and Château La Gomerie, and Owner of Château Joanin Bécot, to our headquarters yesterday for an incredible masterclass and tasting. Château Beau Séjour, Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé B, consists of 22 hectares in Saint Emilion's golden triangle, with 7 hectares of underground quarries used as storage cellars for thousands of bottles. Over 100 Beau-Séjour Bécot vintages are kept there, away from light and variations in temperature.

In 2023, a new vat room and ageing cellar were inaugurated to produce w**es that reflect the soul of this legendary terroir and the perfect balance between the climate, soil and w**egrowers that shape the vineyards. The new generation, led by Juliette Bécot and Julien Barthe, is dedicated to pursuing the efforts already undertaken at the estate and promoting the family’s enthusiasm and never-ending quest to make an elegant, charming w**e. These are w**es made with love!

We were lucky to taste Château Joanin Becot 2019 & 2016, Petit Becot 2019, and Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 2018, 2014, and 2005. Thank you, Julien, for providing a great presentation and leading us through each vintage with great detail and passion.

Thank you to Adrien Goichot from Maison André Goichot, Grand Vin de Bourgogne, for his visit last week. We were delighted that he could kindly provide a masterclass at MISA, in addition to his busy schedule in the DFW area that included successful tastings at Put a Cork in It, Colonial Country Club, Saint Emilion, Paris 7th, Ellerbe Fine Foods, and finally, an amazing sold-out w**e dinner at Lavendou Bistro.

Founded in 1947, Maison André Goichot embodies the excellence of "Grands Vins de Bourgogne." As one of the last independent, family-run w**eries in Burgundy, it remains dedicated to preserving its heritage while continuously striving for quality. This commitment is reflected in the meticulous selection of grapes, careful vinification, and deep respect for appellations. Recent acquisitions, including Château de la Guiche in Montagny and the "Les Dressolles" appellation in Meursault, further highlight its strong connection to the terroir. In 2020, the investment in a new w**ery and barrel cellar reinforced its dedication to crafting exceptional w**es, inspired by the spirit of sharing and enjoyment.

It was an honor for MISA to host representatives from the iconic Bordeaux estate, Château Latour, for the first time today, including Mr. Frédéric Engerer, CEO of Artémis Domaines and President of Château Latour, and Kaitlin Morrissey, Director of national Accounts. They provided us with an in-depth masterclass that drove home the importance of understanding the history of the estate, the terroir, and the care with which the vines are tended and the w**es crafted; in order to really understand the w**es, one must understand the elements that make up its story.

Guests at the tasting were greeted with a welcoming glass of Ch*****ne Jacquesson 749 Cuvée, followed by a guided tasting of six vintages of Les Forts de Latour, and five vintages of Grand Vin de Château Latour. We were even lucky enough to get a preview of Les Forts de Latour 2021 and Grand Vin de Château Latour 2018, neither of which have been released for sale just yet.
We would like to thank Mr. Frédéric Engerer, Kaitlin Morrissey, and Marion Lopez for their visit today, and for making this tasting a very special one in the history of MISA. We wish you a safe journey to Houston for the tasting at Mastro's!

Port Askaig Islay Single Malts are independently bottled by Elixir Distillers, who strive for a family style, which drives everything they do, that harks back to some of their most loved whiskies of the past. The name derives from the port of the same name which is nearest to the home of their new-make. MISA was proud to welcome Robin Coupar from Isle of Harris Distillery to our HQ in Dallas to celebrate the launch of Isle of Harris Single Malt Scotch Wh**ky; their new signature single malt. Robin walked us through the entire range of Harris spirits, including the distillery's history, all of the specifics of spirit production, and, of course, tasting; his expertise was illuminating! In addition to tasting with us at MISA HQ, Robin visited account around the DFW area like Liquor Library and Put a Cork In It, and he will be at Wh***ey Castle tonight for a very exciting tasting that even includes their Golden Globes Single Cask! We hope to see you there!

The story of The Isle of Harris Distillery is truly and inspiring one, as it was established in 2015 to create the island’s first ‘legal’ distillery, acting as a catalyst for the economic regeneration of their community of less than 2,000 people. The founder wanted to give residents steady employment to prevent the island's population from dwindling, thus protecting the local culture of Harris. Isle of Harris Distillers began with their award-winning Isle of Harris Gin, followed by The Hearach and The Hearach Oloroso Cask, and now they debut their new: Isle of Harris Single Malt Scotch Wh**ky.

TASTING NOTES FOR ISLE OF HARRIS SINGLE MALT:
Full of island character and crafted for enjoyment, this is an accessible single malt appealing to those who love a complex, easy-drinking and delicious everyday dram. Woven from people and place, every drop of our wh**ky is made, matured, and married on the island by a team of young local distillers and blenders, trained from scratch. Everything is done by hand, eye, and nose to create ideal flavor characteristics.

A warm welcome goes out to Mr. Francisco Matarazzo, Export Manager at Bodega Lagarde, for his first visit to MISA Headquarters in Dallas, Texas! Francisco has been working with MISA sales ambassadors to present Lagarde's amazing range of Argentinian w**es in cities all over Texas, and kindly took the time to host a tasting in our office for MISA staff. This was a great opportunity to learn more about one of MISA's most important suppliers and to taste wonderfully crafted w**es.

Bodega Lagarde is one of the oldest w**eries in Mendoza, Argentina, with amazing high-altitude vineyards where pre-phylloxera, old-vine malbec was planted between 1906 and 1930 and continues to grow, ungrafted, and tended with the greatest care. Owned by two sisters, Sofía and Lucila Pescarmona, the 3rd generation to own and manage the w**ery, they are devoted to crafting high-quality w**es of distinction while holding a strong commitment to their land and its people. Lagarde grows certified organic crops and has a Vegan certification, Sustainable Vineyard and Winery Certification, HACCP Certification, and has been a ‘B Company’ since 2018.

A shining example of Lagarde's famous old-vine Malbec is their 'Primeras Viñas' Luján de Cuyo 2021, which we were able to taste during Francisco's great presentation. This vintage was able to earn 94 points from Vinous:

“The 2021 Malbec Primeras Viñas Luján de Cuyo is sourced from Finca Bertona in Perdriel and aged for up to 18 months in new French oak barrels. This purple w**e reveals aromas of ripe plums and blackberries, accompanied by notes of cedar and white pepper. Rich, plush and supple on the palate, the balanced acidity leads to a long-lasting, juicy finish. This is a Malbec with a faintly ethereal character, which can be attributed to the leaner Perdriel soils.”

MISA has been grateful to work with Mr. Edouard Braastad from Tiffon Cognac in multiple cities throughout the USA this week, and continuing on into the next!
