The last 23 hours have been an adventure to say the least. This nice fallow was shot Saturday evening with no blood visible anywhere. Let him sit for 4 hours then called in Forrest to take over. 2 miles into his track he found the buck and chased him in the woods and grabbed him a few times. Unfortunately he got away. Decided to let him lay over night and come back first thing. Forrest got back on his trail and found him after another 3 miles. Unfortunately same result. Later that evening riding around the ranch we spotted him at the opposite end of the property and was able to get a final shot on him and take him out. Not the way we wished it would have happened but so glad I got to experience it with my number 1 pup and watch him do what he loves.
