There have been a few updates to how we connect and share information. We’ve discontinued the use of Meetup.com, so the Fresno page is no longer active. Moving forward, I’ll continue to send out email updates and post on Facebook, but our main hub will now be the Fresno SolidWorks User Group page on the SWUGN website.

Dear Colleagues,

I Hope this post finds you and your family well. I miss getting together. We have not had a SolidWorks Users Group Network meeting since COVID messed everything up, but it’s time to move on. I’m planning on having End of the Year in person meeting on December 28th at Machine Head Brewing in Clovis (5:30pm to 8:00pm).

Your invited to come drink a pint on us, plus pizza of course to celebrate getting together is person again.

This meeting will be limited to the first 25 people to RSVP.

Excelsior is looking for a Technical Programmer.

General Summary: Primary roles are to prepare work orders in priority for the Production team, estimate and order raw materials and hardware, convert customers drawings and ideas into manufactural parts and assemblies that can be built with our current capabilities and subcontractors. This role requires frequent communication with customer technical personnel, Sales, Order Entry, Production Leads and Management. Must be able to adapt to priority change for Rush orders. Basic competency in materials is required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Use technical expertise to determine feasibility, estimate material requirements, and collaborate with internal and external resources to seek optimal solutions for the customer and production.

2. Reverse engineer customers drawings, parts and or assemblies using measuring tools and trigonometry.

3. Interpret customer drawings and produce detailed shop prints and flat layouts used for the manufacturing processing.

4. Understand and utilize CNC equipment nesting/programming software. Insure operator and machine safety, material utilization and process efficiencies.

5. Collaborate with customers and account managers to develop an understanding of technical and commercial requirements of new products or projects.

6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

7. Maintain documents, drawings, files and work instructions to Excelsior standards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Good oral and written communication skills required.

2. Experience in drawing and blueprint interpretation and proven ability to convert 3D models into flat layouts.

3. Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work effectively to bring solutions to customers and sales team.

4. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

5. Communication skills to ensure customer needs are communicated and executed.

6. SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software experience.

7. Experience with Microsoft Office Suit (email, word and excel).

8. The individual must be detail oriented and deliver consistently accurate work product.

9. Strong experience in current and future manufacturing capabilities.

10. Proven capabilities in material selections for design a manufacturability.

Education and Experience:

HS or GED required, Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree preferred. 3-5 years’ experience in custom manufacturing

Heather Hasz Bio:

Heather Hasz is the Brand and Community Ambassador for DriveWorks Ltd. Heather spends a large part of her time working and networking with technical resources to assist with presenting on DriveWorks at SOLIDWORKS User Groups in North America and other parts of the world. Heather has a strong background in program development, project management, and building relationships. She holds her B.S. in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. She lives in the Northeast with her husband Earl, daughter Abbey and their two dogs (who she refers to fondly as her 'interns'). Before joining the DriveWorks team, Heather spent eight (8) years working for SOLIDWORKS.

Earl Hasz Bio:

Earl has been with SOLIDWORKS since the fall of ’99. In that time, he has seen the growth of the product from one product to a wide array of products that it is today. During the early part of his career at SOLIDWORKS, Earl managed the API Support team and helped to define the interfaces that are used by those additional products as well as a range of partner products. Today, Earl manages the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Engineering Technical Sales team in North America, specifically SOLIDWORKS Electrical and SOLIDWORKS PCB.

Prime Engineering is hiring a full-time draftsman who is proficient in Solidworks.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed drawings that include dimensions, BOMs, exploded views, and other engineering information for new and existing products as required
• Assign part numbers to new components and assemblies
• Modify and revise models and drawings to correct operating deficiencies or to optimize production
• Produce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications that describe operation and maintenance of product components
• Assist in the development of tooling such as fixtures for welding and machining
• Coordinate with the product management team to develop products consistent with product specifications
• Coordinate with production to jointly develop the product using manufacturability techniques
• Attend project meetings
• Possible travel required

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Ability to prioritize work to meet schedules
• Ability to select or identify appropriate part fabrication techniques (machined, formed, molded etc.)
• Ability to select or identify appropriate part assembly techniques (threaded fastener, pressed, welded etc.)
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes
• Must have strong problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills required both verbal and written
• Acute attention to detail required
• Experience using hand and some power tools is desirable
• Must possess the ability to work in a team environment

Qualifications

• Experience in 3D solid modeling using Solidworks
• BS, AS or equivalent in drafting or related field
• Solidworks certifications are a plus

M2 Antenna Inc. has been based in Fresno for more than 25 years. M2 Antenna Inc. specializes in engineering and manufacturing custom antenna systems for armature radio and commercial applications such as aerospace and national defense.

Job Description:

Translate technical information from Senior RF Engineer and Senior Mechanical Manager. Design, redesign, layout and detail components, assemblies and drawings using SolidWorks. Document company manufacturing and assembly procedures. Create engineering change documentation to accurately communicate engineering changes. Produce accurate BOM to support purchasing department. Create new and update existing assembly customer manuals, using technical drawings, pictures and technical writing. Support and administer SolidWorks Software updates and installations. Support other departments with technical advice and documentation as directed. Other duties as assigned.

What you need to be successful:

Associate’s degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting, or related field / equivalent work experience. Proficient with 2D and 3D drafting design communication. Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings, written specifications and hand sketches.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in using SolidWorks 3D and 2D design software. Knowledge in manufacturing standards and procedures. Experience in using Microsoft Publisher and Photoshop to produce technical assembly customer manuals. Experience in using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
