How different can another wood finish be? Apparently, in the case of cherry wood, very different.

The flavor profile of this is extremely rich and dark, loaded with sweetness, without being overly sugary tasting.

It features prominent tasting notes of dark cherry syrup, baking spices like cinnamon and clove, and rich toasted oak.

In my unboxing video, I said that I suspected this would go good with smoked meat. I will 100% stand behind that prediction, I can’t wait to pair it with a smoked brisket or maybe a tri-tip.

This one is a no-brainer. Head to your local store, grab a bottle, and crush it.

Ampersand Opimus - a 15 year-old bourbon finished in Tokaji casks. This is a bottle that’s generating a lot of buzz in the bourbon world and is reportedly one of the highly sought-after Buff Turkey distillates.

First impressions, the nose is very rich with notes of caramel and citrus and spice. A very autumn-like combination of notes.

The palate is loaded with dark stone fruits. The cherry note in particular is really predominant. There’s also a lot of spice, nuttiness and vanilla.

The 117 proof really comes through in the finish. It’s a nice, warm, long, spicy finish with just enough barrel char.

i’ve had several different iterations of the Buff Turkey and this one is probably my favorite. Mash bill is 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley

John Adams wrote in 1776 that he hoped Independence Day would be celebrated “with pomp and parade … bonfires and illuminations.”

Two hundred and fifty years later, we’re still doing exactly that. Here’s to another year of freedom, good stories, cold b**r, and good bourbon. Cheers, America 🇺🇸🥃
