They're skipping over the benefits! Sure chia can be a cute crunch or garnish, but the fiber, omega-3 oil and calcium benefits are being overlooked in the paper. Dates are sticky because they are sweet, but chia can be sticky because it has soluble fiber, the prebiotic that's good for you too.

What is Tahini?
It's sesame seed paste, and it has a toasted, nutty flavor. It's also becoming more popular in recipes, and common in stores. It's nutritious, with vitamin B, E, magnesium, iron and calcium, but it is also fairly high in calories. (So, a food for an active day) If you're looking to diversify your flavors though, you might want to give it a shot in...
This very pretty vegan chia pudding (called 'pb&j...but tahini replaces the pb.) As you scroll down the page, you'll find lots of other chia ideas and recipes as well. This is an easy recipe to introduce a new food to your kitchen along side chia seeds--and, of course, it works with home-made jam too!

These chia pudding cups get a PBJ vibe from nutty tahini and sweet-tart fruit compote. Vegan, gluten-free, and refined sugar-free, this easy, no-cook recipe makes a healthy light meal or snack.

It's nearly fall, so a warm loaf of tasty bread could be on the menu. But, what if it was this bread that's healthier AND prettier than regular breads? And it was easy to bake too? That sounds like a recipe for success.
And, because it isn't strawberry season, don't worry: you can use frozen berry slices & diced in for the bread. It doesn't matter because the berries will be baked anyway. Coconut is a nice mild flavor to compliment the berries, and Greek yogurt adds protein while chia boosts that too, plus adds fiber & healthy oils.

A healthy chia seed banana bread made extra lovely with strawberries and coconut. Greek yogurt gives it a boost of protein and plenty of moisture.

What is a 'soft set' jam?
Why does it taste extra fruity & fresh? If you're interested in a refined-sugar & added-pectin free jam, this strawberry rhubarb recipe is a great place to start...because it has chia seeds! That's right, the gelling action of chia helps this jam set up instead of added pectin or loads of sugar. Being sweetened with maple lets the real fresh fruit flavors come shining through. (Too much sugar or HFCS can dull the taste) It's a quick, small-batch jam because the cooking is minimized for this recipe.
The article talks a little about chia seeds, fiber, and then gives you cool ideas to use with the jam like make-ahead jam & Greek yogurt parfaits, over pancakes, and even added to chia pudding. Let the brilliant red color tempt you to read more at https://bojongourmet.com/low-sugar-strawberry-rhubarb-jam-chia-maple/ then pick up your MySeeds chia and give the recipe a try for summer flavor.

This tangy low-sugar strawberry rhubarb jam is softly set with chia seed for a light, fresh flavor. Perfect with toast, PBJ, yogurt, oatmeal, & more.

Are condiment calories ruining your attempts at healthier eating?
They might be...but there's an easy solution. First of all, you should know just what's in each condiment you might use, because nobody suspects siracha sabotage or being wrecked with ranch. Ketchup isn't on the dessert menu, so nobody suspects it of being sweet, but it has a surprising amount of sugar. At a restaurant, you might accidentally get a whole meal worth of calories in a ramekin of ranch too. So what can you do?
The solutions are easy! First off, you can add chia gel to many condiments to feel full faster, add fiber AND (importantly) make less of them go a longer way, without ruining the flavor. It's as easy as mix it in & enjoy as usual when you have chia gel. Things like BBQ Sauce & Honey Mustard can be brought under better control by making them yourself, along with salad dressings. (Bottled dressings don't choose healthy fats because they're less shelf-stable--but healthy fats are required to absorb the Vitamin A in many salad veggies.)
The article focuses a little too much on sodium, and needs to better distinguish between healthy & less-healthy fats. The emphasis should be on replacing (home made dressing tastes better!), extending (chia seeds & gel distribute flavors), and countering (potassium counters sodium) to round out their choices...but, it may still surprise you with the foods on the list

Don't spoil a healthy meal with condiments that are loaded with fat and calories. These seven condiments can equal a diet disaster.

There are so many posts about sanitation related health...so how about a dietary related health brief instead?
Nutrition is a key factor in keeping a healthy immune system, so eating healthy teams up with 'enough sleep' and hand washing as well as other safety measures to help efforts to be aware and stay safe during the quarantine time.
Digestive health, specifically helpful probiotic bacteria and the prebiotic fiber that feeds them can support a strong immune system. Vegetables, fruits and plenty of 2 kinds of fiber will give you, and your beneficial bacteria the nutrition needed as a part of continuing to feel well.

It's time for an "SOS"
That's "Save Our Shipping"!
As you have probably heard, the virus is also affecting the USPS, America's postal service. And, as you probably also know, it's their fabulous flat-rate shipping that allows us to ship your MySeeds Chia FREE to you! (As always, our 3 pound saver packs are still shipping FREE right now) Flat rate shipping is such a value, but so are stamps when you consider it costs over 10 dollars to get a normal postage-stamp type card or letter somewhere with other services. The USPS is also what's bringing a lot of the wonderful Amazon items safely to homes now as people observe distancing & do the right thing by staying indoors.
People are trying to help out buy buying extra stamps (they're 'forever' anyway), but could you help for the price of ONE stamp? Or ONE call? Yes, if you contact your senator. (Remember: They pay extra attention to paper-postal mail) The senator is supposed to work for you--let them know what you want which is support for the USPS so we all can continue to enjoy its value & safety! It can just be a sentence or two, nothing elaborate needed. But how? Just head over to https://www.senate.gov/general/contacting.htm and say something like "Please cosponsor S. 2965, the USPS Fairness Act. The Act would remove the burdensome pre-funding mandate that Congress imposed back in 2006 & help save the USPS. I'm your constituent & the USPS is important to me." It's that easy, and if everyone does it, we will all keep being able to share the value.

Tips to beat the hoarders?
If they're hoarding in your neighborhood there's a few ways to beat 'em that end up being pretty healthy as well.
Fresh foods: You can't hoard fresh food very well, so head for the veggies and produce. Accidentally got extra? If something looks like it may go bad, (oranges, watermelon, bananas...etc) peel it and freeze it in bags. Use it for smoothies or overnight blended oats later. Freezer space is finite too, hoarders can't even use the tip to clear out the fruit.
Unusual foods: NOW is the time to look into tasty recipes with unusual foods hoarders don't choose. Out of pasta? Try Farro, the ancient grain that's the size of puff-rice & has an al-dente pasta texture. (Works great in Chia Fresh-Parsley Tabbouleh) Quinoa can be used to replace rice but you need less of it because it's more filling. (Watermelon-mint chia salad w/spinach) Hominy is a canned good they don't pick on to hoard, but it has the consistency of pasta as well as a super mild flavor (Award-Winning White Chia Chili)
If you're forced to stay indoors, use the time to check out recipes with unusual ingredients online or in the Kindle. Freezer recipes like ice pops (We have chia pops too) are abundant & use fresh ingredients that can't be hoarded. Use the time to find something tasty and nutritious--you could end up adding a new favorite to your menu.

Was this prediction about chia seeds true?
Take a peek into the past with Huffington Post's big chia article. At the time, it refers to them as "Faddish", but makes predictions about the future of chia, and where it looks to be headed in stores and online.
You won't be surprised that they get one thing right: learning about, and touting the nutrition of the seeds is the way to go. After all, when people learn how healthy they are, and how easy they are to use, choosing chia is a simple 'yes!'

Five years ago, the word "chia" made most Americans think of one thing: Chia Pets. The association lingers. But today, chia seeds are beginning to g*i...
