We welcomed this pretty lady into our program last weekend. She has more whoa than go right now. She is doing very well with the writing and the obstacles. We are working on the trail and just general riding. She has been settling into the barn routine very well.

🆘Emergency After Emergency! 🆘

If we thought the flood was bad enough this past week has been a doozy! We have had Multiple Vet emergencies! Poor stormy choked on his grain. UT was called out and had to tube the poor guy. When he was about done with antibiotics he spiked a fever of 104!! The vet came out again and again! Stormy has fluid in his intestines which points to colitis. The volunteer team has been amazing with his touch and go condition and round the clock care! Stormy has been getting IV antibiotics daily as well!! He is still not out of the woods and we are continuing to monitor him every few hours!

Suzie has not been feeling well and presented with a hot area on her belly. Emergency call made and Dr. Hancock determined it was cellulitis and we are treating with antibiotics daily. Unfortunately she is still not eating all her 'mush slurpy food'. We will be reassessing in a few days.

Joli decided she wanted in on the fun and was colicky. We were able to get her through it and she has since 100 percent recovered!

Although it may not sound like a lot. Thats 5 emergency vet visits in a little over 1 week!!

We need help with helping these guys!! Please care, share and donate! Even $5 dollars goes a long way and helps so much! Without the publics assistance we could not do what we do!

Donate now!

All donations are tax deductible as we are a certified 501 c 3 nonprofit!

Wednesday Wisdom,
Going outside your comfort zone is something not many people like to do. To become a better rider/horse person it is a must. If you don't take risks you can't get better. I see many times the horse has more try, ability, want to, or whatever you chose to call it than the rider/handler. By settling for a certain level of achievement, that is where you will stay. I try to encourage the people I work with to slowly build up to and do something they are not comfortable with. When trail riding a new place you may not know what the trails are like. You could come across something that you have never see or had to ride over. Anxiety sets in and then you transfer that to your horse. The same for competing in the show ring or arena. It is hard to step out and do something you have not done before. When you trust your horse and the horse trusts you it will become easier as you work together as a team. When I have a horse in for training, I put them through as much as I can. I move at the horses pace. Once we start working together the tasks become easier for the horse. When an owner comes to pick up the horse after the training is complete I get them to ride the horse. I will show them what the horse is capable of doing then get them to ride it. By showing the owner what the horse can do will sometimes encourage the rider to do more. So the next time you ride or work your horse do something different. Throw a rope off them, go over the big drop off or down the big hill. Go a little faster to the first barrel. It can be anything. Yes it is hard to do for some but not impossible. Remember, How you handle your horse, is how your horse will handle you.

We welcomed this amazing three year old Irish Sport Horse filly to our program a few days ago. She is all ready way past where I thought she would be. We are opening the gate to ride out of the pasture on just her third ride. We have explored the property around the house and the obstacles we have set up. In a few days we will be on the trails. I have always wanted an Irish Sport Horse. This one is in for training and as smart, willing, and as calm as you could want one. She is an in your pocket horse and so very sweet. I will hate to see her go back home after her time with us is over.

I did not know this but it is National pig day! Yep we don’t just have horses here at Rocky Creek we also have these two babies. I got them out of an auction. They were too small to be taken from their mama and put in a auction. I just knew I had to bring them home! This is BamBam and Pebbles and they are growing and loving life. They now eat on their own and have fun rooting in my throw rugs!!! LOL. Happy Pig Day!

This past weekend we welcomed back to our farm Stormie! She had been with us and trained on our farm from the time she was a baby. She went off to be a riding partner. They were no longer able to ride anymore so we offered to get her back. To be honest we missed her like crazy. She will be staying with us and will work her in our program. We have some announcements coming up in the near future that we are working the details out on. Stormie will definitely be part of that!

WELCOME HOME STORMIE!

We brought Slim Jim home on December 5th last year. Coming up on two months now and he is thriving. He is becoming a wonderful horse. His personality is coming out and he really likes people. He has been running with the herd and having fun. He likes lazy naps in the sun after eating to much hay. All the other horses get along with him and have become buddy’s. He has the smoothest trot and lope when running with the other horses. We are just letting him be a horse until about April. At that time I will start working him on the ground. We are so happy with his progress. He is going to be a truly beautiful horse.

Our Story

We are committed to training horses from the ground up. Creating a safe and sound foundation for the horse and for the owner. We have seen so many times where a person has bought a horse and it was not what they were told it should be. We thrive on honesty and safety. Our training program starts with ground manners and then moves to saddle time. The horse in training lets us know when it is ready to advance. We do not put time lines on the lenght of time it takes to train a horse as each horse learns differently. We are about quality of training not quanity of training. We care for each horse as if it were our personal horse. Our property provides many diffenent types of terrains and levels of difficulty in the riding. When an owner comes to pick up a horse or if we haul it back to the owner after training we alays ride with then and help them to get the most out of the training in the horse. RCE gives a 30 day free assistance after a horse goes home. This means if you have any issues in the first 30 days after training we will come to you or you can bring the horse back and we will help you work through the issue at no extra cost.

We are a small working facility. We have a good barn and pasture, free feed hay for the horses and fresh grain daily. We have a lit riding area to ride at night and are getting ready to install a hot walker for the horses. We have multiple trails and are always working on making more. We network with a lot of people and other training facilities. We also work with multiple resue groups and foster/train horses for them. If you are looking for a horse we can assist you in finding the right partner as well.

Remember when working or riding your horse. “How you treat your horse is how your horse will treat you”.

A good horse may have once been a bad one and a bad horse may have once been a good one.

𝑨𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑼𝒑𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆! Todd, from Rocky Creek Equine FT says, "Amber did outstanding today. Our neighbor had a gathering and we supplied some horses. Amber rode great with a true first time on a horse beginner to the young lady in the photo with experience. There were four of us riding at a time and Amber took the lead. She is an amazing horse."
Amber is available for adoption! She is currently in training with Rocky Creek Equine FT and she's doing great! Here's what Todd had to say about her: "Amber is like a sweet sports sedan. Smooth to ride, lots of power yet so easy to control. This awesome trail horse is available for adoption. She is an advanced beginner to intermediate rider level. You don’t have to be a trainer to ride her but have enough saddle time to handle her." For Amber's story and more information, check her out here: http://ow.ly/DEjM50ExcvG
