It tastes like a mango and a banana? It’s a what!?

We ARE one of the lucky ones that America’s best secret fruit, the pawpaw, grows natively on our farm. In fact, we have so many it seems like we’re always finding a few more every time we look.

This delicious yet unassuming fruit doesn’t stay ripe for long so now is the time to give one a try if you’re lucky enough to stumble upon any.

We need to do a few other things to the outside, but getting this far is a milestone worth sharing.

Were you ever curious what our barn looked like before we rebuilt it?

The story goes that all the stone structures on the property are from the 1700s. When our family bought the property almost 100 years ago, the decision was eventually made to sell the barn wood and the stone foundation sat untouched for decades. Dean (our owner) and his brothers and sisters and aunts and uncles all have memories running around in the old barn.

The barn and the memories were too cool to ignore. So the rebuilding started in 2014 and rebuilding seems to be the theme of 2023.

The house is getting rebuilt, our barn is open for the community, and we have a ton of things to share over the coming months.

Phase 1 - complete

Another historic project in the works this year as we plan to take down the original house, built in the late 1700s.

This decision didn’t come easy. We have a large family and all of us have tons of memories and dozens of sentimental connections inside these walls. But at the end of the day, modernizing this house seemed like the right thing to do.

As we begin demolition, we are finding…
chestnut, pine, oak flooring
chestnut, oak hand hewn beams
wide pine, oak rafters
Extra wide fire place behind a brick wall

We intend to salvage as much as possible and will be posting as we go!

The Vineyards of Mary’s Meadow was voted as the best farm/garden and vineyard wedding venue in Baltimore!!!

While we have only been in business for a little over 10 years, generations before us did all the hard work so all we had to do was preserve what they started but being a Best of Baltimore was never on our radar.

Thank you to everyone who voted for us! You had so many beautiful venues to decide between and it’s a true honor to have received this award from you, the readers!
