I’m posting this for accountability for myself to finish the task. I will be doing a drop of my regular and wide diaper extenders with some changes tomorrow, Friday May 15th, 2026. I had a problem with fraying elastic, send out samples to effected customers, received two pieces of real-time feedback, hired help with the next step, and we are producing the new version right now. It will be a limited release with custom orders available if you message me. We are starting with one box of elastic and melting the ends by hand over a small flame. This has been proven by past customers and trial and error with other methods to be the best way to prevent fraying while washing. The price will reflect choosing to pay someone to cut and pre-melt the pieces. These will now be available as ready to ship items 🩷

Next update on elastic for extenders. I’ve tried a hot wire cutter and a heat gun on the ends. I have samples going out to past and current customers. We all use different washers and settings. One has even offered to do handwashing as part of the improvement testing. Better products are in the works! I’m so thankful for customers who are brave enough to say it wasn’t right.

Update #3 on the elastic: I have ordered some different commercial melting tools. I have scheduled a babysitter for the first time in 6 years. I have lovely customers willing to help test fresh extenders made from my demaining rolls of elastic. I’m taking some time to figure out a better product while fixing the problem that looks like a bad roll of elastic. The listings for extenders are deactivated until this is figured out 🩷

Let’s revise last night’s post with more information! *Already issued preemptive refunds* I received photos from another customer showing the unraveling elastic. I know exactly the date I started this box of elastic because I asked for help with my business for the first time in a long time. I have a text showing when it was completed and me thanking them because I used it and it was cut straight. It was the 3/4” wide and I will suspect the 1.5” is not much better. I’ve been handling declining quality of Dritz products behind the scenes for 2 years. I haven’t found a better product. I have had a bad bit of elastic once or a bad pack of snaps once. I’ve always made it right, double checked, and moved on down the road. I am feeling in my gut as I finish this CASE of boxes of elastic that it won’t get better in quality. I contacted Dritz as well. I am giving as much data and thoughts as I can so if someone From February 26th til now checks this instead of the Etsy system message they will know what my thoughts are.
