Worked right up to sunset tonight. It is so exciting to work on things that make a huge impact to the build. It is also rewarding to see projects start to come to finality. So, after a month + of installing doors, windows, window boxes, 2 inches of external XPS insulation and 3 inch furrings for a drainage plane, I started putting up the Shugi Ban board & batten today. House has gone from old weathered cedar siding to pink (from liquid house wrap) to blue (XPS sheets) to now black burnt cedar!! I really love this look, it's practicality & it's durability. So much more character than metal or other long life siding choices. Takes more time/labor in burning, but it is more bug, rot and fire resistant. Feeling really good to see my vision of windows and siding come together and look as good as I hoped it would. Can't wait to get the rest of it up. Hopefully before the snow! Oh, down in the far left corner is another little "custom add on" I added to the exterior - freeze proof spigot with hot water. One on each side of the house. Why? Because I could!
