There are few things better than an early autumn evening at a farm. The air turns crisp. The light gets golden. The fields glow for a little while before the sun disappears, and suddenly you remember that Tuesday nights don’t have to be spent answering emails on the couch.

On October 13, we’re heading to for an evening with **es and . We’ll gather for cocktails and appetizers, sit together for the most epic meal with w**e pairings, and watch the sunset roll across the fields.

All with some of the best w**e out there.

You think what I said is that the w**e is good, but I want you to listen. This is w**e that has beat out all other w**es in world-wide competitions. This is the real deal. And we’ll have Flâneur W**e’s National Sales Director, Russell Lichtenthal, in the flesh, pouring and talking about these beauts.

Chefs Zack and Brendan from Fei Supper club never let us down. They’ll be cookin’ up a five course feast. So come hungry.

Have you ever heard of the vEAR phemomenon?

It stands for visually evoked auditory response. It happens in about 20% of people, when your ‘seeing’ and ‘hearing’ parts of your brain sit close together. You see a strong visual motion, and your brain fills it with sound.

The brain relies heavily on past experiences to predict the world. If a silent video depicts a meaningful event that should make a noise, the brain forcefully inserts the sound.

So here’s the test…is shaking up a cocktail such an important and repetitive part of your past experiences that this clip makes you hear that sweet sound of ice and liquid tumbling in a tin?

Our deviled eggs have trust issues.

We just switched up the recipe (again), which means the deviled eggs currently waiting for you at Joui are a little different than the ones you had last time. We rotate them often, because committing to just one version feels unnecessarily, and creatively, restrictive. What’s the saying about variety and spices?

You may be asking us to spill the tea. What’s in the current iteration?

That’s between us and the eggs. You gotta come in, order a plate, and let yourself be surprised. Oh! and pair them with a glass of w**e, duh. We recommend the Silvan Ridge Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.

The only thing we can promise is that they’re delicious.

When somebody iconic comes to town, we open up on a Monday night and put together something fun.

So this Monday, August 24, we are pulling out all the stops to welcome Gonzalo Laínez, joining us all the way from Spain, for an evening of Spanish w**e, tapas, and stories from the Príncipe de Viana W**e Group.
We’ll taste five w**es while Gonzalo takes us behind the bottles, vineyards, and w**emaking traditions that make them special. Meanwhile, we’ll be feeding you an assortment of Spanish-inspired tapas for an evening of regional delicacies and w**e pairings.

Desperate times call for desperate pleasures.

Saturday at Joui is the second installment Sensory Sessions hosted by katie mathews aka kaate

Kaate: Chef. DJ. Photographer. Artist. Yogi. Fashion icon. What can’t she do? Join her as she guides us on a journey to reconnect us to our bodies, to one another, and to the simple pleasure of being fully present.

The mind has a habit of wandering, but the body is always here, waiting to be delighted. It’s in the aroma of a glass before the first sip, the way your mouth waters in anticipation of the first bite, the instinct to move when the right song comes on, and the feeling of music carrying you somewhere words can’t. Throughout the evening, you’ll enjoy thoughtfully paired food and drinks, a one-night-only dessert pulled from the vault, and a downtempo DJ set from Kaate from 7–9pm. Then we’ll turn up the energy with a late night dance party from 9–11pm. Expect Arabic techno, acid house, and yes, a little tasteful slt pop because we see you, hunny.
