First cold snap in Tennessee means one thing.

Chili’s on the stove. Around here, it’s practically tradition.

Use ground beef, ground chicken, ground turkey, or our Ancestral Blend if you want to sneak in some extra nutrients without the liver complaints.

Make a double batch. Tomorrow’s chili is better anyway.

Justin Pearcy of Tri-County Concrete (yes, the same Justin who donated concrete for our new building!) runs Southeast Blade Traders, a private Facebook group for buying and trading knives. Every Thursday they hold an auction, and next Thursday, October 15th, every dollar goes to Build 128. 🎗️

What's up for grabs:
✅ At least 79 knives, with bids starting at $1
✅ Case, Barlow, Boker and more
✅ Fillet knives to pocket knives
✅ Antiques (one dates to 1920!) to knives made this year

Today we're weighing cows. Some took it better than others... This is all just a part of monitoring and making sure the herd is in tip top shape, especially when we're thinking about breeding.

We're taking a moment to remember the Family Support Group's donation in honor of 1SG John Lewis "Sully" Sullender. Gifts like theirs are laying the groundwork for a community building our whole hometown can be proud of.

Here's where things stand:

Frozen meat at 5 p.m. isn’t a dinner plan.

A little planning goes a long way. Fridge is best, cold water works when you’re short on time, and the microwave is there when you really forgot.

Whatever you do, don’t leave it sitting on the counter.

Save this one for the next time you forget to pull dinner out of the freezer.

You gotta make hay when the sun shines. Literally.

We’re getting ready for winter and trying to put up enough of our own hay that we don’t have to buy it later.

Turns out “free grass” takes a lot of work.

It’s September, so naturally we’re already thinking about Thanksgiving turkey (time moves differently here)...

If you know you want a 2 Coots bird on the table this year, we’ve got whole turkeys in the freezer right now.

Want a certain size? Holler at us and we’ll see what we can do. Because waiting until the week of Thanksgiving and hoping for the best is not recommended!

Meanwhile, this year’s Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys are out on pasture doing what turkeys do. Eating, growing and generally having no idea what November has in store.
They’re pasture-raised, corn and soy free, with no chemicals, GMOs, added saline, colors or flavors. And we wash our birds in water. That’s it. Just water.

We expect the frozen birds to sell out. If they do, don’t panic and don’t buy a sad grocery store turkey just yet. We’ll have more details coming on how to get one of our fresh birds the week before Thanksgiving.
