SFH Magic:

There’s never a dull moment when you own a Swedish Flower Hen, this is part of why we just adore them. Every year during the molt we get yet another surprise. Remember the cuddles loving lady Nightshade that is featured on this page from time to time? Well would you believe me if I told you these two pictures are both her?!! It’s true! This is Nightshade before and after this years molt. The way she is going it’s very possible next year she just might be all white. Stay tuned this time next year to find out ;)

HANDSOME BOY:

Have you ever walked into the chicken yard and muttered, “wow you are handsome!”? Anyone with a Swedish Flower Hen knows this, it’s a daily occurrence no matter how long you’ve had them.

This handsome 6 month old cockerel is ready for his own flock. He is a rooster camp graduate and got a well deserved A. He is a sweet boy that is happy to do a treat drive-by then go hang with his ladies. He is not terribly interested in being your BFF but is very human space respectful. He has a calm but determined demeanor and being his own man is certainly part of his bucket list.

He is a pure Swedish Flower Hen sired by the mind blowing color explosion Meadow. His rooster camp teacher included the famous of all teachers Honzík who had rooster camped many successful cockerels throughout the years. He is on the smaller end compared to his brothers so will be an average sized rooster.

If you want your own Fabio watching over your ladies, PM for more information.

SILVERUUD’s BLUE UPDATE:

We are excited to finally reveal next years line up with the other sweeds we have on the farm, the Silverudd’s Blue!

Some fresh genes are coming to this area that include the main boy that hatched from a 71g blotchy speckled egg!! 🤯

All 4 are coming up very nicely. All together next year we will have one black rooster, one splash rooster and three lovely blue girls. Talk about getting the full on bingo breeder card for this breed!

All 5 are tested homozygous, their size is much more breed standard, all that’s left to do now is wait and see how the two younger lady’s eggs turn out.

We are super excited to see how these lovelies turn out so stay tuned!

BOWIE ANTICS:

“Strike a Pose”

Did you know Bowie has modeling aspirations!?! This little Mr. Gucci loves to turn and freeze, observe and assess then be on his way. This has launched his modeling career.

Stay tuned for more “strike a pose” photos as Bowie take the stage to create his 2027 breeding portfolio.

Maybe we should change his name to Fabio, hmm 🤔

😍

We love to help but we also have to give a lot of attention to the kritters in our lives as well. Please help us help you and check out the plethora of resources out there so that it allows us to give the uncountable amount of our kritters the attention they need.

If you ask Bowie he’d agree, the attention is his and he is not fond of sharing 😵‍💫

With the literally millions of backyard poultry kept by hobbyist and exhibitors there is a need for an easy-to-understand book on parasites, diseases, and disorders of poultry along with how to recognize and treat these issues. In this book we provide an explanation of the parasite, disease, or diso...

ROOSTER CAMP GRADUATION DAY:

💥💥💥ONLY ONE LEFT💥💥💥

UPDATE:
Simon- SOLD
Theodore- Pending
Chip-Available

The boys have gone through rooster camp (RC) and have finally graduated! These have been one of the easiest batch of boys I’ve yet raised. Congratulations to Simon for being the A+ student and winner of RC! All will be amazing roosters and gorgeous at that.

Read their bio in their picture’s comments.

They all did so incredibly well this year! Meadow makes some amazing even keeled lovely boys. Meadow is a forever keeper on this farm and will never leave so he will be here to sire many more generations along with his son Bowie who is one delightful little guy.

CONGRATULATIONS boys for doing such an amazing job. You made RC too easy this year!

SFH MOMENT OF AAWEEE:

We love our chickens, there’s no denying that right?!! But when it comes to Bowie I think there may be someone who loves him more than me!

I turned the camera around so he could see himself and apparently he liked what he saw 🤪 This boy has so much personality he could start his own fan page, I swear!

SFH BREEDER UPDATE:

In the Feathered Muses farm tradition, little Mr. Bowie is showing just the kind of sweetness we love to breed on this farm. Stranger danger, no problem, repeat visitors, no problem, smaller humans, everyone is a friend!

When a beautiful boy shows this much natural potential they are not allowed to leave the farm! This little treasure will be one of the potential sires for next years breeding season but until then this little dreamer needs to be a little more interested in being more than just friends with the ladies 🤦‍♀️.

‘Little dreamer’ isn’t just a nickname for him, it is his state of mind. We love you little love, don’t ever change but also know the feathered ladies think you’re a cutie pie and want to be more than just friends with you so…

🥰

SFH BREEDER UPDATE:

It’s always a bit nerve racking introducing new breeders too early but these two ladies are just too precious we had to share them!

As part of this years gene refresh for this farm we’d like to introduce the two new ladies that will be joining us. They are younger so likely will not be laying breed standard hatching sized eggs till later in the 2027 season but we are still super excited to have them join the flock!

Get excited for Meadowlark, or Lark for short, and our very first and most awaited for black based “Snowleopard” (“Lemon” where she comes from), Sunshine!

These two still have a lot more growing to do but we thought it would be fun for you to get updates from them as much as the keeper boys so you can all see just how much they change and flower into the gorgeous blooms they become.
