Friendly Farms - A Small Animal Sanctuary

At Friendly Farms we help homeless and abandoned animals, mostly guinea pigs and rabbits. We are located in Monterey County, California.

Friendly Farms is a foster home and sanctuary dedicated to assisting in the placement and protection of rabbits and guinea pigs at risk. We work with the House Rabbit Society to promote adoptions, spay and neuter programs, and proper care for happy, healthy, life-long relationships with our animal companions.

Tuesday was vet day this week. 🩺 Topper went in for her regular 6 week dental. She has 2 points that need attention each time now. Thankfully Dr. Thomas can nip or file them down without anesthesia. 🦷

Topper is 9 years old and has some arthritis in her hips, so she has been prescribed an anti inflammatory. We’ve also started a joint support supplement, which is far more appealing to her. 😋

Our friends at Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary need some support! 🐷 Karen is in the hospital, and while Christine is doing a fantastic job running the sanctuary, she can always use more volunteers and funds to help pay for employees and supplies. 🍎🥬🥕🥒

We had a fun visit yesterday, seeing the wonderful animals and caring humans, and doing some odd jobs they haven’t had time to get to. ✂️🪏

Tuesday vet day. 🩺 Our waterfowl had wellness checks today. Everyone is doing well. Anka has a limp from her healed fracture of two years ago, but she still moves freely all day long and keeps up with the others.

Malia and Bettaka each had a foxtail up one nostril. They must be very happy to be rid of those. Thank you, Dr. Thomas! ❤️🦆🪿

An update on our 7 year old sweet elder piggy Buddy. He stopped walking a couple of weeks ago. His arthritis had progressed to the point where it became too painful to stand.

Dr. Thomas prescribed a high dose of meloxicam for him, and we also started him on a joint support supplement, and in about a week he was back on his feet. He is still stiff and not moving easily, but he can self-feed and go visit the neighbors when the mood strikes. Go Buddy! ❤️🐹
