We introduced 1854 Market Hall a few months ago. Now we’re ready to start sharing the story of what’s coming.
And as we’ve learned more about the history of 18 N. Sandusky Street, we’ve discovered that what we’re creating isn’t a new idea. Back in 1854, Martin Miller established his business here as a baker, confectioner and restaurateur. But food was only part of the story.
Upstairs, Miller’s Hall became one of the places to be in Delaware—welcoming musical acts, lecturers, poets, magicians, exhibitions and community gatherings. People came here to eat, meet, be entertained and experience something new.
More than 170 years later, that spirit is helping shape 1854 Market Hall.
We’re creating a place to gather, dine, shop, play and discover—with food vendors, local businesses, community spaces, events and entertainment all bringing new energy to this historic building.
There’s a lot happening behind the scenes, and over the coming months we’ll be sharing more about the spaces, the people, the history and everything we’re working to bring to life.
So follow along — we’re just getting started.
And maybe Martin Miller would recognize the idea after all.
