This year was the first time I ever planted a flower garden; it’s been such a small effort with such big rewards. Flowers make me SO happy. I used to work at a flower shop. Started off as the delivery gal and moved up to making arrangements all by myself. It was such a fun job and now I get to make my own bouquets at home. It’s the little things, I tell ya. Life’s little joys.

I’m thinking over the idea of baking fresh baked sourdough sandwich loaves to sell. Who would love fresh baked sandwich bread? These are baked with organic flour, made in the sourdough way, but in a loaf that is easy to slice for soft sandwich bread. It’s a strong possibility if I get enough interest.

The Local Farmer has expanded! They still serve their fresh deli goodies in the old building but expanded next door to have more space for all the local goodness! Stop by when you’re in Pulaski, TN and check out all they have to offer the community in this cute spot. We love getting local ground beef, in particular. Stop in!

I hope everyone is making it through these unpredictable Tennessee weather changes as best as you can; it seems my bees have been enjoying warm days just as much as I am.

For those who don’t know us personally, we are George and Jackie Zollner. We’re a small homestead where we raise our own beef, chicken, and pork; we’ve dabbled in quail and turkeys, and of course, keep honeybees. We homeschool our 4 children , and they do a lot of heavy lifting here at the homestead. Running, even a small homestead, requires multiple hands and we are happy we get to do this together.

We are thankful for a great year and appreciate every one of you that has purchased our honey! It really is a labor of love.

I love this time of year. It’s slower than usual in some ways and busier in others, but it feels so good to have time to sit and plan for what’s to come in the new year. Setting goals and reflecting on old ones.
