We finished our kidding season with Coco this afternoon/evening. Not the best outcome but not the worst.

The doe fairy blessed Coco with twin does, unfortunately she didnt help with the sacs. Luckily Mitchell checked the cameras and saw one in the sac flailing. Once in the barn realized there were two. We tried for over an hour to save one but ultimately we were too late 😢

The twin is our only red paint this year (the other 5 were all traditional), she is up and doing well, weighing in at 7.46lbs.

We only had 3 does take so total of 3 bucks and 3 does, lost 1 doe, and 1 bottle baby buck that hopefully will become a bucket baby.

Busy night! Paisley and Princess decided to kid at the same time, definitely not the order we expected.

Paisley had 2 bucks, weighing 6.5lbs and 7.28lbs, unfortunately we may have a bottle baby, we shall see. Princess had a buck, weighing 10.48lbs and a doe weighing 8.6lbs. Coco is the last to kid for us this year so let’s hope the doe fairy dusted her!

The 2025 show season came to an end this past weekend with Spooktacular and an end of the year banquet for the Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series.

Spooktacular ended without the goats placing, it’s tough competition and we just don’t have the goats to compete but we will keep trying to breed better in order to compete. The banquet was amazing! The behind the scenes work that goes into the Mid-Atlantic Buckle Series is incredible. Even though we don’t have the best goats we’re proud the kids are a part of this series. There are close to 150 kids in the series now, it’s grown so much! Skylar placed 6th for the year in Senior Showmanship. Jameson placed 15th in junior showmanship. Sawyer placed 14th in novice showmanship. John Michael competed in peewee and each of the peewee’s received a buckle and banner.

My goal at the beginning of the year was to do better about sharing pictures and placings from each show (we only showed in I believe 4 shows/fairs this year) here but I didn’t share a single one 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ll try harder next year. Half the time I can’t remember who placed where, all i know is the kids came out of the ring and handed me a ribbon…or didn’t place at all and that’s ok too. We are still learning with every day and every show. Here’s to hoping next show season is even better!

Doe #4 for this year turned into doe #5 today. Eclipse finally released the hostages, triplets to be exact! Last year she was a sneaky delivery, all alone and no help, this year she had to cause me a little anxiety when I see the first baby come on the camera, still in the sac and not moving. But all is well now and two more babies came after. All three are doing well, 2 does and 1 buck, all around 7 pounds each.

Late post- March 19th…”No babies yet”….”I lied there’s one in the field not the stall!” Moved Eclipse to a stall for her baby watch and Pippi said don’t forget about me and delivered her healthy doe in the field. Maverick (the Great Pyrenees) protected her until Mitchell found her that morning. She was curled up sleeping with Maverick, warm and dry. Both mom and baby have been relaxing in the stall since last week.
