Friday kicks off an entire weekend of supporting the collaboration between Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity for women and CASA. CASA volunteers act as an advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. They become a caring and trusted adult who will speak up for the best interests of children in the court system.

A portion of this weekend’s sales will be donated to the Friends of Iowa CASA to be used to fund statewide initiatives and training opportunities. Come get a scoop or a pint and help give back to kids who need an adult in their corner.

Next weekend we’re proud to be donating a portion of our sales to three organizations that are dear to me. Yes, I was a sorority girl . Over the years I have discovered many women I adore were also Thetas. We’re supporting the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA - the national philanthropic partner), and Friends of Iowa CASA. We’ll be sharing more info about CASA over the next week. Get it on your calendar and make the trip in next Friday through Sunday 10/16-18 and help your purchase give back.

Hey y’all! I’ve had a comment or two about posting all the flavors for the week. I posted about the feature flavor of the week yesterday afternoon. We only change one flavor each week and maintain the rest of the flavors for the entire month. Sure, there may be some one-offs, and I get those posted when time allows. Here’s the full list for October, plus this week’s FFW.

Also, look how cute the fall garland looks!! This community craft will continue for at least the next couple weeks. You’re welcome to color one of our fall leaves, acorns, pinecones, or pumpkins and add them to our leaf bag. You’re also welcome to bring in your own! Come hangout and color while you’re enjoying your ice cream. I hope to see all your faces this weekend! Come get some!

This week’s FFW is Peanut Butter Marshmallow Chunk. A smooth peanut butter ice cream with a swirl of house made marshmallow fluff and salty chocolate chunks. A gooey messy scoop, perfect for a waffle cone! Come get some!

Peach Cobbler made with the last of our summer peaches from Wills Family Orchard. We swirled this slightly spiced peach jam through a brown butter ice cream and layered it with slightly sweet crumble topping. Come get some!

It’s October, so that means it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Like most of us, I’ve known too many people who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and even lost a friend.

New month, new flavors. The dipping cabinet is begging for fall. If you build it, they will come. Right? Beth curated a beautiful bevy of spiced ice creams and she used all the best warm cozy spices!!

Spiced C***r Sorbet - Apple c***r infused with a balance of cinnamon, star anise, cloves, and orange zest

Masala Chai - a lush creamy version of the spiced black tea with milk

Pumpkin Cheesecake - seriously tastes like a piece of pumpkin cheesecake blended up and frozen, the gingersnap crust pieces add a nice crunch

Caramel Apple Pop - a nicely tart green apple with a soft swirl of caramel

Orange Cookies & Cream - delicately orange orange ice cream, with all the chunks of Oreo cookies

Not pictured - cinnamon ice cream - both hot and warm cinnamon flavor. One of Beth’s seasonal favorites.

We’re so ready for vibrant fall colors, chill weather, crunchy leaves, and that smell in the air. You can help us decorate the shop for fall!! Pick a leaf, acorn, pinecone and coloring for us! Want free hand your own? We’ve got paper for that! Want to make something at home to add, bring it in! Add your crafty good to our leaf bag. We’re hoping to make a garland to string across our front counter space. The more we get, the more garland we make!

Years ago Dolly collaborated with a nationally known brand to make the Strawberry Pretzel Pie ice cream. I knew I needed to try it. I also knew I couldn’t afford to order it to be shipped to my house more than once. So I decided to make my own version, and I think I made it well. Try this tangy vanilla cream cheese forward ice cream, with a swirl of house made strawberry jam and pieces of a salty crunchy pretzel crust.

We have to celebrate Dolly! She was an icon. She lead her life with so much humanity, kindness, and inclusion. We could all benefit from a little more of that these days.

Come get your own scoop or pint! We’re open 2 to 9 today. We’ll have it in the dipping case all weekend in case you don’t make it in today. Hope to see your faces soon!
