I’m really happy with my keeper ewe lambs this year - Twister & Tillie. They’re shaping up nicely, and it’s exciting to see the potential they have.
That said, raising sheep is a long game. No matter how promising a lamb looks today, I won’t truly know if they’re a keeper until their first fleece comes off next February and gets sent in for micron testing.
Our breeding program focuses on two things: fine fleece and sound, functional animals. I want sheep that produce beautiful fiber, but I also want sheep with good structure that hold up over time.
These lambs are giving me a lot to be excited about, but now comes the hard part: waiting.
