Planting Barley 🌱

Papaw jumped on the grain drill and took my job. Waiting to hear his knee hurts from bouncing around. 🤔

🫣 Theo is just watering the grass. 😂

Farming doesn’t always go as planned…

This spring we attempted to start a new hayfield. We didn't get enough rain, and the weeds took over.

So we went with plan B. We burned off the weeds before discing and replanting.

And with that, the 2026 hay season has come to a close! 🎉

Thank you to all our hay customers.

🚨 Reminder: we will have some Alfalfa Orchard Grass mix available. Reach out if interested!

This will make a beautiful second cutting! 🤩

Reach out if you need hay.

RIP Pearl
This doe was nothing special to most people, but she was one of our first kids born when we started our operation.

While just a commercial doe with no fancy pedigree she produced some of the biggest widest kids. We are thankful to have retained NR24 Ruby Wrangler out of her!

This poor girl got listeria two springs ago, and since then her mouth has been slightly off. She was able to eat and clean her kids perfectly fine. We had seen her twice before choke on her cud and a big chunk of soft hay. With a little cough, she was able to work through it.

When we went out to feed last night, we found her dead with foam out of her nose and mouth. Perfectly healthy in the morning. Our best guess, along with the vets, is that she choked due to her mouth not being aligned 100%.

She was not the prettiest doe, not even our favorite 90% of the time, as she was a major escape artist, but she represented a milestone for us. Her genetics will live on in her daughter Ruby!

Doe Available!

NR24 HOLY SMOKES is a big-bodied January-born percentage doe. She is out of our herd sire HHH4U BIG MAN’S PISTOL and a hardy-bred and owned commercial doe who has been a great producer for us for many years.

✨NR24 HOLY SMOKES✨

This big-bodied January-born percentage doe is looking for a new herd. She will add bone, topline, and hair! She was just pulled from the pen, given a bath, and a little trim.

She is sired by HHH4U BIG MAN’S PISTOL
Her dam is a bred-and-owned commercial doe that has been with us for several years. She has kidded unassisted each time and raised strong kids. We have already retained several of her offspring.

PM for more information.

Gave the girls sweet corn stalks from the garden. Think it was a hit. 🌽

Montgomery County Fair 2026

We had a great time out with some even better people! We only took two goats for simplicity, as our newest member of the family tagged along for his first goat show!
In true farm-kid fashion, he had his diaper changed just about anywhere. 😂🫣 Goat stand, fitting mat, etc.

Big shout-out to the Sarvers for all their help this weekend!

NR24 FROSTBITTEN LEAD LADY
Show 1: Chris Fleming
She did not make the cut out of 24 animals. The judge said, “She was my next pick; she has all the components; she just needs a little more.” We were not upset and appreciated the feedback, as she is only 2 weeks into her age group. She has lots of time to mature and fill out.

Show 2: Kathy Daves
9 out of 24
The judge said, “She is a very nice doe with a nice neck and wide topline; she just simply got out muscled today.”

NR24 BACKED BY BRASS
Show 1: Chris Fleming
5 out of 8

Show 2: Kathy Daves
6 out of 8

We were very pleased with this buck; he was the youngest in his class, having just aged up, and he held his own without standing out in size. He really keeps getting better the older he gets.

✨Note: we are offering up NR24 BACKED BY BRASS! He would make a great addition to any herd and bring width, bone, and that Boer head shape. Message us for more details. ✨
