ADGA released the December Elite list (they release twice each year). Seaduction and her daughter Bobbi both made the list again. Seaduction scored in the 98th percentile and Bobbi as a yearling milker scored 96% against all age groups.

Elite List does are in the top 5% of their breed as based on genetic merit for Milk Fat Protein Dollars (MFP$) which is an economic index for milk production.

Bobbi kidded at 10 months of age and continues to milk strong late in winter. She is milking through 2026 (we purposely did not breed her this fall) so we will be interested to find out how long she can sustain good production. Her current lactation reads as follows:

10 239 2232 74 70

Here is what the above numbers represent:
Age at kidding, total current days in milk, total pounds milk, total lbs BF, Total lbs protein.

305 days is considered a complete lactation leaving 60 days to dry/rest before kidding the next year.

WooHoo! All 2026 breeding confirmed via ultrasound this past weekend (Last 2 young does confirmed, everybody else has been confirmed x 2).

We are EXCITED about breedings for 2026 (OK we are every year! But we have new AI Sires we are trying and a new young sire from Vineyard view in the mix this year!).

First up will be the Lap AI Does (Bred 5, 4 took) all due on February 21. Reservations for bucks and 2nd doe available on most:

Bahama (Dam of the 2025 ADGA National show 4th place Sr Kid) is confirmed bred to Kastdemur's Vicco! She has at least 2 kids, possibly 3 on board, Kidding date February 21.

Seaduction, one of our Elite does, is confirmed bred to Kastdemur's Lady-Killer, 2 kids visible on US.

Saki confirmed bred to Lucky*Star's HD Lugosi (Sire of our best 2025 kids and many outstanding does across the country), 2 kids visible on US.

First timer Rowena confirmed bred to (Gasp!) An Outstanding Alpine buck: Redwood Hills Foxtrot Resolve. 2 kids seen on US. Rowena was easily our widest kid born in 2025. Her kids will be registered Experimental.

Question(s) of the day:
1) What are these?
and
2) Why can't we throw all this old stuff away?

Answers:
1) These are the new track supports (his own design) for the new gates and panels getting installed by the kid barn.
2) see answer #1

New 5' bow gates and 5' panels from NorthStar in Caney, KS (our fall "vacation" this last weekend). We have used Northstar gates inside the kid barn for several years. We are also upgrading the milk barn (replacing metal horse stall panels) with more of these Northstar gates and panels to improve air circulation and make barn cleaning with the mini skid steer easier.

These new bow gates outside the kid barn replaced chain link panels and gates held together with baling wire and prayers. Marty would have preferred that the bow gates were not right next to the barn but the sun shade we put up in the summer would have rubbed on the bow gates if we moved them any further out.

He's pretty proud of these track supports he designed, and I guess I am too even if it hurts my argument to throw out all this old stuff! Hoping these help keep the metal panels off the ground through the winter and wet spring, reducing rust wear and tear. He used a chop saw to cut old door track to make the guides. It fit perfectly but he says be sure to measure the track because, you know, he's a retired door guy and there are different sizes.

Katamaran unfortunately cycled back and was backup bred to our new Jr. Herdsire Vineyard View Rex Ollivander. Not a bad backup at all! We are very pleased with this new buck whose dam, Vineyard View Nitro Narcissa, was 3rd place 2-year-old at the 2025 National Show.

Lamancha bucks available for work. One yearling, already registered, DNA on file, and two 2025 buck kids, both registry-eligible.

Yearling: Platte Valley LL Luigi was our 2024 Jr. Herdsire, proven with kids on the ground. His dam, Bricksie was a 2024 ADGA "Elite" doe (top 5% of the breed based on milk production genetic evaluation).

Buck kids: Dam is Karma, 91 VEEE, who won 2 championships in the show ring before developing mastitis, was also one of our highest milk producers.

National show results and official pictures! We took 4 milkers and 2 kids and were thrilled we "made the cut" with 5 out of 6 goats at our first National show! 2 made top ten (!!!) and Katamaran received the High 305-day (production) Fat award!

4-year-olds (24 entries):
Legend of Zelda - 6th place
Katamaran - 11th place and 1st place High 305 Fat

2-year-olds (47 entries):
Saki - 14th place
Seaduction - 16th place

Senior Kids (36 entries):
Bimini - 4th place
Tempest - Did not make top 20 (but we love her anyway! Even if she has it in her head that humans walk on two legs, why shouldn't goats?)

Attending the National show was an amazing experience, we got to meet the people who are the celebrities of the Lamancha world and found out they are really nice people who are just like us - they never get tired of talking Lamancha!
