Born and raised in Detroit, Boss, also known as Lichelle Laws, was an influential force in the world of rap. She broke barriers and defied stereotypes as a talented woman in a predominantly male-driven industry.

Beginning her journey in the late 1980s, Boss emerged during a time when female representation in rap was limited, but she fearlessly took the stage, leaving an indelible mark on the genre. With her distinct style, sharp lyrics, and unwavering stage presence, Boss quickly gained attention and garnered a loyal fan base hungry for her empowering messages.

Once, Total Trak Productions discovered her, Boss was signed almost immediately to Def Jam West. She achieved significant commercial success with her critically acclaimed debut album in 1993, Born Gangstaz, which showcased her versatility and dynamic storytelling abilities. Her lyrical content often delved into social issues, including racial inequality, gender dynamics, and her own personal struggles. She fearlessly confronted these topics head-on, using her platform as a catalyst for change and sparking meaningful conversations within the industry.

But Boss’s impact extended beyond her musical contributions. With her trailblazing spirit, she opened doors for countless aspiring female artists, motivating them to find their voices and reject societal expectations. For the last two years we’ve had the pleasure of being a vendor for this event. For those that didn’t get tickets last year and was literally mad at us because you missed out!! Don’t say that we didn’t give you a heads up of this year’s lineup!! It’s going to be off the charts!! You know Chef Fe’s gotta make her specialty dish which is Shrimp and Grits along with some new additions!! Get your tickets now!! Get some food from me and the other vendors and enjoy the Festival!!
