Another competition weekend in the books, and this one is going home with us! 🏆🔥

We headed to Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition & Benefit in Lyneville, Iowa. A well ran comp for a great cause! We came away as GRAND CHAMPIONS!

🥇 Chicken — 1st
🥇 Pork Butt — 1st
🥈 Brisket — 2nd
9️⃣ Ribs — 9th
🏆 Overall Grand Champions 🏆
Out of 18 teams

Couldn’t ask for a much better cook! We stopped at the The Grill Works Friday took there advice on brisket finishing dust and boy did it work! Saturday we fired up the smokers and got to work cooking 1 brisket, 3 whole chickens, 3 racks of ribs, 2 pork butts, and a pork loin. We also competed in the mystery meat category which was corned beef brisket 😳, and side dish. The ribs might’ve taken the scenic route, but the chicken, pork, and brisket showed up ready to work!

Shout out to Bucknutz BBQ for Reserve Grand Champion, and Family Tradition Bbq for all of the calls you got. It’s always great going to competitions out of town and having people to hang around!!

Friday night we traveled out to Hampton, Iowa to compete in the backyard division for Crusin' & Bbqin'. We were able to set up about 45 minutes before a down pour came through. With the weather we decided to head to town and grab some grub with the crew.

Saturday we had late turn ins, so we decided to sleep in for a bit. We lit the barrels and got down to business. Turned out to be a great day with the sun shining and no hiccups.

1st place Ribs 🏆 🍖 (Prarie Fresh) and a invite to the World Rib Finals
9th place Chicken 🐔
3rd place overall

We've been struggling with ribs so this definitely boosted the moral, the chicken on the other hand maybe a tad dry.

Congratulations to Fender Bender BBQ on Grand Champion and Skinny Pig BBQ for Reserve Grand Champion. Also to all our friends that heard their name called!
The clock you might be wondering about. Last year Skinny Pig missed one of his turn ins and received a Flava Flav clock to make sure he didnt forget again, hes been holding it for a year for the the next team. Well 2 weeks ago we missed our rib turn in by 5 seconds. So now we carry the beloved clock and hopefully it leaves our hands soon! Thanks for the laughs! 😆
We had a great time hanging out with everyone, on to the next!

Holy smokes, today was a hot one but we got the job done! 😎💨

Jones County Fair Results:

Great River Threshers BBQ Contest Miles, Iowa

Friday night we both cooked burgers, not sure where we placed. Also brought mom’s pie down, also not sure where it placed. (Lots of entry’s)

Saturday was hot! Our generator was having issues staying running so we focused on trying to figure that out. Ended up not turning in our ribs (5 seconds late) 🤷‍♂️

Chicken: 22nd
Ribs: 🤷‍♂️
Sausage: 4th
Overall for the day: 27th

Sunday was not so hot generator ran pretty decent but was still surging. We made all of our turn ins! We did try a new rib recipe this weekend.. still working on it. Back to the drawing board.

Chicken: 4th 🫣
Ribs: 24th
Sausage: 1st Perfect 180 😎 (our first 180 pin)
Overall for the day: 20th
