Had a little job over in Grenada county working on some drainage for a farmer, their field had a section about 3 feet deep and 10’ wide that tapered for around 200’, it had slowly eroded over the past few years and made it difficult to navigate with farm equipment, it had a ditch on the upper end but wasn’t large enough to handle the amount of water so we dug a ditch on grade and laid it way back so it could be properly maintained with any piece of equipment, we used the excess dirt to backfill the cropland to it’s original slope! This place would make a very beautiful secluded homeplace it has a little bit of everything, crop land, hay meadows and wooded acreage, it has a nice rise in the middle of the property where you could have 360* views and a nice place to put a 5 acre pond! It was a small pain but I got my legitimate service disabled veteran owned business certification! I am currently working on a business venture that if it all works out it will allow me to reduce rates significantly and pass on savings to my local community, I should know in the next couple of months for sure. It will be time and materials only and I will not be giving estimates with these rates, I will provide customers with a hourly rate sheet on equipment and labor and charge a fee for moving equipment to the job site. This will will only be provided for private customers (non commercial) in a 45 mile radius of my business address special rates will be given to combat veterans and reduced rates to veterans without combat service, proof of service will be required. With that being said if you have a project coming up late this year please keep me in mind until everything falls in place my rates will remain where they are now given no special reason for increase. I planted about 3 acres of jubilee watermelons in some old cutover ground that I have been cleaning up! They should be ready in July and august, it’s really just an experiment to see how well the will do and me with high hopes of being able to sell enough to buy a cow or two with the proceeds! So if you get hungry for a watermelon late July and august keep me in mind!
