Lytle-Barnett
A really great bubbles house, Lytle-Barnett has been consistently producing some outstanding sparkling wines from Oregon under the past decade. Lytle-Barnett uses the talents of sparkling wine extraordinaire Andrew Davis to craft their méthode champenoise wines. The wines are refined with a soft mousse and a beginning, middle and end.
They might command a higher price but they are also very well-made. Lytle-Barnett sparkling wines spend extended time in tirage before being released which certainly adds depth to the flavors and aromatics. I love the new 2014 âExtended Tirageâ Sparkling Wine (OB, 94) which is concentrated and round on the tongue with great mature character. 2020 Lytle-Barnett âBlanc de Noirsâ Sparkling Wine- A really good wine from a tough vintage, the 2020 âBlanc de Noirsâ comes from the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. It is round and generous on the tongue with mineral-driven melon, Yakima cherry and citrus fruits that parade with baking spice dusted French bread on the palate. Ripe and fleshy, enjoy now and over the next few years. Drink 2026-2030- 91
2020 Lytle-Barnett â A unique 2020 Oregon sparkling wine made only from Pinot Meunier grapes, the Le MĂ©langeur was stored on the lees for three years before disgorgement. This comes off clean despite the obvious challenges of the vintage. Cardamom laced peach and shortbread notes combine with salty minerals and juicy strawberry on the palate. Enjoy now and over the next few years. Drink 2026-2030- 93
2014 Lytle-Barnett âExtended Tirageâ Sparkling Wine- A delicious, mature bottling, the 2014 âExtended Tirageâ opens with honey and baked apple notes on the nose alongside pie crust accents. The plate is rich, round and dense on the tongue with a refined mousse and good sense of length. This is drinking at peak right now. Drink 2026-2032- 94
