🥚🌾 BUY LOCAL • EAT LOCAL • SUPPORT LOCAL

When you buy eggs from a small local homestead, you're not buying from some giant anonymous corporation.

You're supporting an actual family.

You're helping pay for feed.

You're helping keep animals cared for.

You're helping a little piece of rural life continue.

And we're incredibly grateful for every person who chooses to support Meadow Moon Homestead. ❤️

If you've purchased from us, drop a ❤️ below so we can say thank you!

Things nobody tells you about having chickens...

You will eventually:

• Talk to them like they're children
• Give them ridiculous names
• Take approximately 900 pictures of the same chicken
• Become emotionally invested in one particular bird
• Spend money on something you swore you weren't going to buy
• Find chicken p**p somewhere it absolutely should NOT be

And somehow...

you still want more chickens. 😂🐔

Chicken people, what did I miss?

🥚 HOMESTEADING MYTH: Fresh eggs don't necessarily need to look perfect.

Farm-fresh eggs can come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, shades, and sometimes have little imperfections.

That's part of the fun!

Every egg doesn't come off the "homestead assembly line" looking identical. 😂

Would you rather have a perfectly uniform dozen from the grocery store...
..or a dozen that looks like it came straight from someone's backyard?

Bonus question: would you rather have white or brown eggs or a colorful carton?!

Homesteading isn't always pretty.

Sometimes it's muddy boots, dirty hands, chicken p**p, feed buckets, chasing an escape artist around the yard, and wondering why you ever thought this was a good idea. 😂

But then you collect a basket of beautiful eggs, hear the animals making their ridiculous little noises, look around at everything you've built...
..and remember exactly why you do it. ❤️

What part of homestead life makes YOU happiest?

🥚 Chicken eggs vs. duck eggs — did you know they're actually pretty different?

Duck eggs generally have:
✨ Larger yolks
✨ Richer flavor
✨ Thicker shells
✨ More fat and protein
✨ Extra-thick, fluffy baked goods

And yes... you can absolutely cook a duck egg just like a chicken egg!

Have you ever eaten a duck egg?

❤️ = Chicken eggs are your favorite
🦆 = Duck eggs are your favorite
🤔 = I've never tried one!

🐔🌙 If you could add ONE animal to your homestead, what would it be?

Chickens? Goats? Ducks? Quail? Pigs? A ridiculously spoiled cow named Barbara? 😂

We're slowly building our little homestead here at Meadow Moon, and I'm curious what everyone else would add if space, money, and time weren't an issue!

👇 Tell me your dream homestead animal!
