Our total egg count for May 2026 was... 477!!
Our YTD egg count is 1635 😱 Our ladies are hard at work! Come fall, we'll have some new layers.

When my parents said "you can have whatever animals you want when you're an adult in your own house", I really took that to heart. Went out for chicken feed, came home with feed and a new TSC purse! I've looked alllllll season for black copper marans, and FINALLY found some! Half off too! Last shipment of chicks our local store will have this year.

If the 10 eggs my 3 broodies have, end up hatching, that'll bring our total chicken count to 45 I think?! Plus our 9 ducks!

Started my seeds indoors, waited until after our last frost date to transfer outside. Now it's gone from mild temps to HOT. I don't think my peas will survive in the direct sun, but we'll see. We have cucumbers, 3 different types of tomatoes, peas, eggplant and squash. Hopefully this year will be better than last. I will also be covering the beds with straw next weekend.
