This stallion advertisement from the December 1967 issue of The Quarter Horse Journal featured a painting of Double Bid by Darol Dickinson.

Double Bid was foaled in 1954. He was bred by A. A. Story. Double Bid was by the Thoroughbred stallion Double Feature and out of Paula Thomasina, by Chicaro’s Tom. He was a half-brother to Big Reward, a stakes winner; Clabber Bar Maid, an AQHA World Junior Barrel Racing Reserve Champion; and Paula Laico, the dam of Laico Bird, the 1967 AQHA Racing World Champion.

Double Bid made 46 starts and won 16 races. His biggest wins were the Ruidoso Championship Stakes, Pomona Championship and Clabbertown G Handicap. He was the 1959 Champion Quarter Running Stallion. Double Bid stood in Clovis, California. He sired 401 AQHA registered foals. He was the sire of Bunny Bid, the 1971 AQHA Racing Champion Three-Year-Old C**t. He also sired Dyna Bid, Double Dancer, That’s My Bid, Burnt Spur, Double Whiz, Double Duty Bill, Double Dial and Double Thistle.

Double Feature, the sire of Double Bid, was a Thoroughbred stallion foaled in 1941. He was by Psychic Bid and out of Cinema, by Sweep. Some records show that he made 119 starts and was stakes placed. Double Feature sired Troop Carrier, a track record-setting Thoroughbred. He only sired five AQHA recognized foals.
