We took our goats to one last show for the season and I sit and reflect on this year. We had some hardships around a bucks this year. So all of our kids were non keepers. I made this hard decision and had to get the human kids on board. My goal as a goat breeder is to better my herd and breed structurally sound and healthy animals. I know we can’t keep every kid born but it was a hard set back to not have any keepers this year AGAIN!

On top of this I told my son he would have a smaller kid to use for showmanship this year. 😩 I was so happy to partner with H.Saltsman's Dairy Goats & Poultry to get us back on track. We got a lovely showmanship doeling for my son and he has fallen in love with showing goats again. Extra happy to get an AMAZING buck to help grow our herd and excited to see improvements for next springs kids.

Things I’m grateful for is that, even though we did not keep any kids this year, we had goats in milk to show! We have slowly added more shows to each year so not to lose our minds quickly. 😆 Year three gave us so much feed back on our herd and what we have going well and what needs to improve and that gets me even more excited for next year.

This is a great example of how jumbo our chicken eggs are. Turkey eggs are normally much larger than chicken eggs 😆
