Good Measure Acres

Good Measure Acres Pressed down. Shaken together. Running over. Follow us to stay updated on our latest progress as we grow.

Good Measure Acres is a budding farming venture in South Carolina that seeks to restore and preserve heritage crops and herbs and increase their availability to and use by the local community. We are currently enrolled in several programs administered by the state and federal governments, including the SC New and Beginning Farmer Program by Clemson Extension, in an effort to educate, empower, and

equip us to best help our local markets by leveraging the resources that exist to bring quality food products to underserved markets.

I tried to share my flyer twice to two different groups and both got denied. How are you guys advertising on social media? Should I start learning how to use my Instagram?

Good Measure Acres has an engagement tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Good Measure Acres is going to start doing weekend plate sales to continue to raise funds. I'm working on the Google form and payment methods now.
Most likely it will be pre-orders/ ticket sales only that will cut off two days before so we can properly prepare. Soul food and locally sourced fresh veggies.
I'll keep you updated!

Sulfa tabs used to come on a paper like candy dots

My great grandmother used asafoetida resin. A small chunk dissolved in alcohol. Most likely stumphole.

These are not suggestions or medical advice.
I saw a comment that said survivor’s bias (ignoring modern methods because of the way your family has done it) is a dangerous thing to make decisions from…….well baby we damn sure can’t listen to the ones that DIDN’T make it lol.

I come from a lineage of women that ate whatever their land raised, animals included. They were fertile well into what’s considered menopausal age now. They always had a root or a remedy for whatever was ailing you.

So as for me and MY house, we will keep our culture alive.

My grandmother taught me to make greens this way
Rolled, sliced into thin ribbons, and cut lengthwise
She rarely adds water, and never meat, to vegetables.
“You gotta take your time, Kim.”

She would melt those greens into some hot oil and then turn the heat down and let the steam collect and cook them until they got sweet. And as long as you don’t rush and cook them too fast, they would make their own pot likker.

The leftovers she would put in a bowl covered with plastic wrap and leave it in the center of the stove.

I would go peel that plastic back late at night and eat them greens COLD, with a little extra salt sprinkled on them 😂♥️

Locally grown berries by one of our fellow SCNBFP alumni!

Hey Blythewood and area residents, are you ready for locally grown blackberries? The first fruits of the season will be available at the Blythewood Farmers Market as soon as they start to ripen, and we will open for u-pick once things really get going this summer!
