…and that’s a wrap. Hanging up my apron, pausing to breathe and make room for the next thing. Life has been a series of reactionary moves since March 2020.

Gertie’s is going to shift into an event space with a commercial kitchen for the month of May. Calendar of events will follow soon. Thank you for the growth, the friendship, and food.

Friends & neighbors, April 29th will be our last day of brunch service at Gertie’s. Please visit us as we end this chapter. While we are here, we will do as much good, and have as much fun as we can. Come use your gift cards, or don’t and we will honor them at The Barnacle. We will host some dinners and private events in May, settle our accounts, and tune into what is best for this space, our family, and our friends.
Our sister establishment The Barnacle remains. We are not closing our company. We will continue to show up for and contribute to life on Orcas Island, just in a different format. Email us at [email protected] if you have any questions about this.

Dear friends, we have made the difficult decision to close for the remainder of January. While we had hoped to serve as your third place this winter, let’s be honest…most of you are in Mexico, or Europe, or hunkered down at home near the wood burning stove. The combination of low winter patronage, weather conditions, increased Covid in the community, reduced spending… our team needs a break. We will be available for private parties upon request, and we will use this time to prepare for our future success. See you in February.
