**FOUNDATIONS FIRST 🌿 | The 4 Macro Minerals**
Calcium. Magnesium. Sodium. Potassium.
These are four of the first minerals I’m paying attention to when I look at an HTMA.
But here’s what’s important:
**I don’t only look at them individually.**
I’m not simply looking for what’s “high” so we can lower it or what’s “low” so we can supplement it.
Minerals work together.
They interact. They influence one another. And their relationships can give us additional context about the overall mineral pattern we’re seeing.
For example, sodium by itself gives me information—but whether it’s high or low, what potassium is doing alongside it, and how it relates to magnesium can give me a much bigger picture of the stress patterns I’m seeing on an HTMA.
That’s why I’m looking at both the individual minerals AND how certain minerals relate to one another.
Four of the relationships I pay particular attention to are:
**Ca/Mg • Ca/K • Na/Mg • Na/K**
And that’s where we’re headed next. 👀
I’m going to walk you through these four ratios, what they mean within the HTMA framework I use, and why they can sometimes give us additional context beyond looking at one mineral by itself.
Because when it comes to minerals...
**More isn’t always better.**
**Low doesn’t always mean “take more.”**
**And one number never tells the whole story. 🌿**
