Today we journeyed to the Great Salt Plains. Although it’s a long way, it’s always worth the drive. All of the kids and adults were completely engaged all day long. Lots of smiles, lots of ‘gems’, some wandering, laughing and maybe a small amount of mud.

Lots of wild animals come and go at Keystone Adventure School and Farm. Currently, we have a little orphaned squirrel who has come to visit. You could find him running around in the K/1 classroom, sleeping in John’s coat, playing at recess or sneaking out to scurry down the hall. Either way, he will always have the interest of any kid who sees him. When he is fully grown, we will release back into the wild!

Today, our 4/5th grader’s made some delicious pancakes! 😋🥞

They got to experience the ex*****on of a real life math example by doubling a recipe, adding and subtracting fractions, and using customary units to measure and prepare ingredients!

It's been a magical week at Keystone! 🫶

Keystone Adventure School and Farm, located in northwest Edmond, is looking for a qualified, energetic, compassionate and eager person to work as a student aid for two students for our elementary school beginning in August of 2022. Keystone is a small, accredited private elementary school whose focus is on whole-child learning and individualized instruction. We believe in strengthening children socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. Our school has a working 15-acre farm and animals with whom the kids interact daily. We also have a spring-fed creek, pond, and ample outdoor play and learning spaces. In addition to individualized and group instruction in math, language arts, science, and social studies, students enjoy art, pasture, music, teamwork-based physical education, hands-on projects, our cognitive sensory classroom, Spanish, Take Flight Literacy, and more throughout the day and week.

A student aide for Keystone:
-Must be excellent at working with children as well as be adaptable to ever changing social and academic experiences.
-Will partner with an experienced classroom teacher to help the two identified students thrive and grow throughout the day.
-Must be able to take directions and implement what is asked.
-Should be able to learn when to put themselves into, and take themselves out of, social settings to help the children grow.
-Will also need to be comfortable with redirection from the classroom teacher.
-Will also assist with children’s particular needs as necessary in order to facilitate success in behavior, social and emotional growth.
-Must be able to maintain confidentiality requirements for students and parents.
-Serve as a model in developing children's language and behavior.
-Commit to weekly meetings with the classroom teacher for feedback and support.

After a four year hiatus, the kid-favorite group project, "Keystone Cafe" is back! Kids break into multi-age groups to design, decorate, and run a real restaurant, serving as hosts, waiters, assistants, chefs, and entertainment. Families are invited to come and enjoy as these hard workers learn real life skills, like how to work as a team, prepare simple dishes, and count money.

Our parents do an amazing job encouraging, helping, and appreciating our staff all year long, but they really go all out for Teacher Appreciation Week (with an "Encanto" theme too...any other kids obsessed with Bruno?). 🤩 It's a beautiful reminder at the end of the year that we are a community who cares for and loves each other. That's the real gift! 🍎🎁🎉

Families, students, and educators have been through a lot in the past two years. Keystone exists to provide a safe learning experience for the whole child: their social, emotional, physical, and academic health. 💙

Right now, we are raising money in conjunction with our Mud Madness Challenge to purchase a new playground structure for our Wild Things!
